Cleaning out some stuff in storage and came across this:

Ford GT presentation on VHS? Yikes. This medium is completely dead and the one after it is rapidly on its way out. Now I just have to find a way to get this tape from VHS to my computer so I can upload it.

My wife has archived a ton of VHS media, we've used a few different pieces of equipment. Believe that Samsung made a VHS to DVD piece of equipment, we still have ours as a just in case. Once I'm back from vacation I'll send the model number along, wasn't that expensive from what I recall

The tape may have copy protection on it, making good copies difficult with standard VHS/DVD recorders.

I can remember paying $1100 for a VHS player in about 1979. It weighed about 30 pounds and appeared to be water driven. When I showed my parents I could tape a TV show, it was like Martians had landed.

At the risk of appearing a Luddite, I still use VHS to tape TV shows. Set for ALMS.....oops, SportsCar tomorrow.

I think that's the first year we bought one too for that price (more or less, definitely over a grand). We got whacked by lightening and insurance gave us money for a new one so I tried to repair the old one. You could buy the schematics from RCA then. It had a complete repair section including what scope waveforms should look like. I had to replace a few standard 74-series parts. I even had to go through the head alignment process. I didn't have one of the standard cassettes so I just used one we had previously recorded figuring that making it the same was better than making it different :) We used it for quite a while after that. But then they started getting more sophisticated. The one I repaired only had a 24 hour one event timer. I bought a Mitsubishi that was (for then) much more sophisticated.

I have a VHS to DVD copier - works if the VHS is not protected.

I have a working VCR if you need it (if yours is broken) That with a USB video capture cable will do it (if your fancy Mac doesn't have a video in on its own)

Here is one, BH has several

As a masshole and our team isn't in it, we do our best to root for the team we dislike less. We were rangers fans last week, but no more.

I had same problem with old family movies. My movies were Super VHS which made prob even more complicated. Best Buy and perhaps even Walmart sell a package to convert VHSand Super VHS to many digital computer formats. Software and cables included. You need a VHS player though. I got one off eBay for cheap as mine was dead.

Software available, almost nothing you can't get around these days
