I couldn't care less about who says what about which car and also not about for reasons why someone buys whatever car. To each his own ...

Wow- read a couple posts out of curiosity, and was immediately reminded of one of the reasons I chose the FGT over a 458. Very happy to be part of THIS community.

Never owned a Ferrari, is the routine maintenance really as expensive as perceived? And does the intervals come sooner than most other cars?

The reason I ask, we live out in the sticks, closest F dealer is 60 miles away, to haul the in car for service would be high PITA factor. I am a DIY guy, is that NOT happening on an F-car?

Most Ferrari (and Mclaren) dealers will provide routine free transport for warranty work.
Not a bad deal

Ferrari service is fine. The Mayor is beyond annoying. Not even sure he owns one now, but he is a self proclaimed expert.

you've not seen annoying until you go to the Cobra forum.

P.S. I read the thread on the Ferri forum but don't want to sign in to reply. I don't think anyone over there knows that Mike used to own a Ford GT too.

Generally speaking, I agree.....with the caveat that there are plenty of people on this forum who also own and love their ferraris. I bought my first GT around 18 months ago, and fell in love with it pretty quickly. I listened to my intuition and purchased a second one with higher mileage since I knew that if prices went up significantly, and I ended up selling one of them....I would still have one to drive and enjoy. Having said that, even at the fairly significant recent increase in FGT prices, a more comprehensive analysis of the various costs of ownership (not the least of which is opportunity cost) would show you that buying one as an "investment" doesn't really make sense.

It has forever boggled my mind to see the cars on ebay with the delivery wrappers and "5.4 delivery miles" advertised at premium prices. I just don't understand it. I was at pebble beach last weekend and saw the various ferraris that sold at crazy prices, including the 275 with 100K miles that sold for 27.5M. It made me feel amazing that somebody had driven and really enjoyed that car (and taken good care of it). It was also great to see the GT40 win best in class over a number of really nice Miuras!!!

All the Ferrari trash talk here is just good natured ribbing. It's hard to be restrained after years of hearing "it's just a Ford" from many Ferrarista. Although I am not likely to own a Ferrari because they are not my cup of tea, I do like them. The 458 is quite beautiful. My GT500 loves the look of them in the rear view mirror. :lol

A 7 year old car with 49 miles???

I guarantee you all the rubber seals will need to be replaced...not good for any car to sit.

Could be, but when/if the car sells for in excess of a million one day in 20 years or so, it won't really matter...and seals can be replaced. IIRC, there was a '69 Boss 429 that did 550k with 902 miles at Mecum last week. It probably sat for what....44 years with only 902 miles? Which ever way you dice it, it sat for a long period getting 20 miles / year. That didn't seem to slow down the sale in any way from what I remember.

Ferrari Chat is an absolute joke. Got one guy over there ( I think he goes by the name of "360") that is an absolutely pretentious POS. Told me once how he could sue me if he wished because he was such a hot shot lawyer.

I told him to go F himself .... and promptly got banned. Whatever.

The cars are nice, too bad they are owned by some many poseurs.

Getting banned from FerrariChat for that reason is a badge of honor. Wear it proudly.

I'm just wondering who "the others we know" are? Do I know them?
