Definitely a lot of "play acting" for the camera, which is Top Gear's main draw so I can't fault them for that.
But it has led to some major misconceptions about the Ford GT:
Misconception #1: "I heard Jeremy Clarkson had 'a lot of problems' which his."
Yeah, whatever. Let's not get into the whole alarm issue again.
Misconception #2: "It gets terrible mileage and has terrible range."
Uh-huh. I'm at 11,000 miles and I've been tracking mileage since day one. Average mileage over the life of the car? 16.7 mpg. Typical range on a tank? 250-275 miles (that's mixed driving, I'll hit 300 on highway runs).
So let's confirm the record. With pulley/tune/short shifter/transaxle cooler/intake sleeve and Accufab bolts I'm doing zero-to-60 in 3.5 seconds, 1/4-mile in 11.6 @ 126mph. I'm getting almost 17 mpg and I've had one shock go bad and a door adjustment to stop a slight clunk over bumps (both fixed for free under warranty in short order by my local, friendly Ford dealership).
Oh, and I'm still not even close to $200,000 total (purchase, tax, title, gas, insurance, mods -- everything!).
Of course I'm pretty new to this whole exotic car ownership experience.
Maybe the FGT is just a hunk of junk? :biggrin
