SVT is the "Special Vehicle Team" established in 1993 at Ford Motor Company and is an arm of Ford Motor Company responsible for the development of the company's highest-performance vehicles.They have been responsible for the SVT Lightning, SVT Cobra, SVT Cobra, SVT Focus, the Ford GT, the Shelby GT500 and GT500KR and recently the SVT Raptor.

Speculation suggests that as a result of Ford's plan to globalize their vehicles, SVT and the European RS division will merge, thus aligning all American and European performance vehicle activity together.

The SVTOA is the "Special Vehicle Team Owners Association" and is comprised of owners of cars built by the SVT. It was once a part of Ford Motor Company, but was separated into an independent organization around 2007. After some initial turmoil, it now has stabilized under Marcie and others and has resumed its initial role representing the SVT owners. It can be found at www.svtoa.com
