The FGT Hood I bought but didn’t receive…

The Back Story…
And trust me, I’ve been very patient.
In 19 years on this board, I’ve never called out anyone like this…

In mid 2023 I noticed a crack in the nostril on my 2005 FGT. I’ve owned the car since new and had it repainted and refurbed by Rich Brooks in 2021.
I honestly thought the hood had a full thickness crack. At the recommendation of another forum member, I contacted BMF (Dan Schoneck) to get a new fiberglass front hood fabricated. I was told by Dan that it would be better than getting another OEM salvage hood, stripping it, and repainting it.
So in September of 2023, I sent BMF $8000 for a new hood including shipping.

A few months later I realized that the paint was actually delaminating off an area of the hood. There was no crack in the fiberglass. I contacted Rich who insisted on making things right. Rich was in Texas in December 23 and actually came to my house and took the hood off. It was then shipped to Rich and his painter stripped and repainted the hood and stripes. Then…Rich was back in Texas in April of 2024 for the Shelby Bash. He dropped by my garage again and reinstalled the hood. It would have taken me days to remove/reinstall a hood. Rich did it in a matter of a few hours. Rich Brooks is a true prince and an asset to the FGT community.

I’ve told BMF that I’d keep my end of the bargain even though I really don’t need a new hood. I’d store it for later use or sale. It has been a year and a half’s worth of excuses…and trust me I have the whole chain of texts.

Is this a steal from Peter to pay Paul situation? The new Gennadi?

The simple and right answer is to refund me the $8000 or send me the part. At this point I’m not holding my breath.

Dan Schoenk wanted to buy all my GT parts 3 years ago, I agreed on price and 2 years later I sold a door seal and a couple trim rings and he jumped on my ass and said parts were to be sold to him only, Well I had no deposit just numerous promises and then he phones me and gets all cranky.. Sold him parts in past with no issues. I loved my GT and put 80k miles on it in our short summers... Anyway everything is for sale as I am a Z06 owner now.. Although the Raptor R is a wonderful truck, still bleed Blue... Hopefully this gets resolved easily not the hard way... I get it The guy is cornering the market and prices will go up.. All the best to Dan in the future..

I sent Ajai pictures of his hood yesterday. It’s been done since the rally. Ajai also originally told me he was not in a hurry as his hood was still usable, he just wanted a new one and was gonna hang his on his wall. Not making excuses by any means. My communication since the rally has not been good keeping him updated and I had planned on shipping it more than once. We have had a 6-11 month lead time on composites with my Mustang stuff and just getting it under control.

Don I have plenty of texts from you about how you didn’t want me to give you any money and how those parts were going no where. You were a man of your word etc. Through your health stuff and through my stuff. At the end of the day when i went to pay you, you got greedy and didn’t honor what you told me. No big deal it happens and we both moved on.

I had not responded since Jan 5th. I text you yesterday am on my own.

I have not bought a gt since 2022. I bought x2 out and thats it.

All I’m gonna say to this thread is. I have never not delivered. I’m probably a tad overwhelmed right now and doing my best to navigate through projects and parts. I should have let ajai know when I got the hood out of the mold i wanted to touch a couple spots up on it and I didn’t do that. So I deserve what ever he wants to post.

Sorry to hear you have been having trouble Ajai. I have worked with Dan on several large projects over the past 4-5 years with all of them being delivered as well as our financial agreements have never changed. I can't say that any of the projects came expedited but I was well informed of the progress and 100% of them have been delivered with my quality expectations completely exceeded. Dan always has a ton of projects going on but rest assured, with a little more patience, I think you will be made whole and very happy with the end product. I am hopeful this will get worked out between the two of you ASAP

Whatever Dan, soldier on as times are a changing... Yes, I am brutally sick with a disease I got from having Shingles... A deposit holds stuff in my world and never saw one.. All is for sale and some is used and some new... Like you, I see the cost of parts going up... You shoulda secured with a deposit.. LOL You could have easily doubled or tripled your money, but you know that. I am selling all of the parts to pay for new Z06 I bought where our gov't screws us on luxury taxes and GST... Almost 27k in taxes to buy car...

Ajai it hasn’t been a year and half. I got the check around sept 26th 23. I have been in contact with you. You sent me a message in a group text with Todd, Jan 5 that I missed. You hadn’t personally text my phone since August 18th and I responded 4 days later. Per my personal texts with you I’ve always responded with in a few days. You must of also forgot our phone conversation that you were in no rush for this as you had a hood on your car and just wanted this as a replacement to hang yours on the wall with the signatures on the back.. as far as being Unsure that you’ll ever get what you paid for. Come on Ajai, I sent you pictures of your hood and told you I wasn’t shipping it till I was 100% satisfied with it as a product. I do all the finishing work on about 350-400 composite pieces a year that leave my shop when needed. I’ve been doing this for 20 years this year. Sure this has taken longer than I thought or planned. Sure you are frustrated about it. Nothing I can do to change that at the moment. But at the end of the day you will get a very nice product you paid for and that’s something I’ve always prided my self on regardless of the time frame.

Reality is don. You told me for 2 years the stuff was going no where. Nothing really to argue about. You bragged about millions in properties cabins etc, how much you made on your new gt you didn’t keep, sold right at two years and how much you hated the car lol I was buying all your junk. Then how you wrote all this stuff off on your business expenses (so it’s pretty much free to you anyways) and just wanted to be fair in selling it. I was taking the stuff I didn’t care about or need and the stuff I wanted, there was not 66k worth of stuff there no matter how much you want to tell your self there was or is. When it came time for me to actually pay you all the sudden it was well well I can honour it but it’s worth 2.5 times now bla bla bla. Then said no. Not to mention you sent me a message here on the forum trying to sell me the stuff again at the same time you told me it wasn’t going anywhere. lol

That is the reality. I moved on but since you want to keep bringing it up….

Here’s how x2 did me on the sale of 14 cars in parts..

I made the deal on all the stuff from x2 two and an half ago in mid 2022, No contract. Word of mouth agreement and I don’t think there was even a hand shake. I paid a deposit of 60% a year later in Dec of 23 then the other 40% two weeks ago and started hauling it home. Scott Jennings who owned the stuff is a real person who does what he says and what he agreed to. Any one who called him to buy something in that time frame where I had given him nothing he told them he sold all the stuff to me. And imagine 14 GT’s in pieces and how much the value when up on them over two years and here you are being a greedy old man on 33k in a small vehicle load of stuff. There are good people in this world. I’m thankful scott is one of them.

Ajai received his hood last Friday..

I'm not making any excuses for the time frame, it just took much longer than I hoped or projected. I finally sat down, got it block sanded, the spots I wanted taken care of, re primed, crated and shipped.. They don't require much work from here out to get to the painting process.

Did I deserve this post from Ajai.. Sure. There are several things I could of done to have avoided it. I'm doing two more hoods right now for a member here (Thanks Craig) and a insurance company, So I reached out and let them both know how things were coming. Communication is key and sometimes a month or months can go by very quick. But Ajai insinuating I'm a thief or I rob peter to pay paul is a little excessive and uncalled for whether he is mad or not.. There are several forum members that I have turned custom work down to in the last 6 months because of how behind I am/was and that would prove his statements towards me otherwise.. On average what I manufacture and sell in Gt parts each year would barely cover the child support I pay monthly to support my daughters. This stuff don't make me wealthy and I can 100% guarantee doesn't support some of the cool stuff i get it do in life that was being insinuated.. I do all this small stuff for the love of the car and keeping them on the road for people to enjoy.. For the forum members here who really know me personally know that my grind is 7 days a week and it's all out of passion for anything automotive I do. I'm 45 and been non stop automotive since I was 14 years old.

I've never been politically correct JW when it comes to what comes from my fingers or my mouth.. I draw the line with certain things.. Everyone is welcome to their own opinions too.

At the end of the day I could of done better to have avoided this post..
