My car is now back and safely home from winter at The GT Guys.

I had Rich and Dennis go over the car, and essentially find every worn item from 27,000 miles and replace it. I don't really drive my GT enough anymore to feel responsible hopping in here and there with 1000 hp. Beyond skipping winter, I've really only been driving the GT 1-2k miles a year tops the last couple years. In 2014, I drove my GT to Carlisle and drove it at the Rally. That was about it. At the same time, they had a customer looking to go 200 mph+ at the mile, so it worked out where he bought my turbo system and I turned around and replaced a whole bunch of stuff. I just said "if it looks old, do what you do and make it new."

New headlamps, new windshield, new door sill plates, new clamshell struts, new clamshell glass, reverted to pulley and tune, put on a Borla (had stock exhaust with the TT system because it was so loud at WOT), ceramic coated the manifolds, all new belts and fluids, random odds and ends, alignment, etc, etc.

Everything looks phenomenal and I'm very happy with it. My headlights had substantial cracking from running them frequently, so not having that and no more pitting in the windshield makes a huge difference. Needless to say, it's like a new old car. I highly recommend their "restoration" services that Roketman and I have taken advantage of.

Will I miss the turbos? Yes, but it felt like the right time to take the GT back to its essential roots. And of course, I can always get another GT with a set of turbos down the road... :wink

Looks like they did a phenomenal job as usual. They just did a complete service on mine at Excentric's place and changed out all fluids and belts, didn't have any other wear items. They did tell me to trash my original Goodyears, and put the Bridgestone's on which I already knew was over due. Ten year old tires are never a good idea. We are all lucky to have these "Guys" available to work on these great cars.

Like the no side stripe on your car.

Shiny.
I've forgotten who bought Black Tip from Camilo. Obviously a Detroit local?

No, he's from South Dakota. Just hanging out here for a little bit until it goes to it's new house.

Your car looks amazing!

Like its 2006 all over again.

Shiny (near) stocker.

Rich and Denis rock, I'll be calling them again soon.

David ,
NICE ,NICE ,NICE!
The mini resto is like getting a new car!
Congrats!

That's what I should do with my white even though I am at 14k

914-6?

The gt looks great!

Amazing. Jealous as usual.

Why new clam glass?

Had some annoying scratches in it from the removal of temp tag glue. Happened to have an extra clam glass so took the opportunity to swap.

Thank you for the reply, good not to hear that it was a serious issue.

GT Guys rock! :bow. Bailed my a$$ out at the VIR rally.

Sounds like a set of V6 TT's :). I caught that one. lol

It's hard for him to find time to move with all his vacations.:lol

Beautiful Dave.

My GT is there now getting the same treatment.

Ed

Just like new. As Spec also noticed what's with the 914/6 or 916? Pretty rare.

Nothing like being freshened up !! The pulley and tune is still a good set up !! The car llooks great !!

good move Ed!

Too funny Dave. My car is at 26,992 miles and I was just thinking it needs a good "once over" (tach died recently, new one should arrive this week, plus crack in windshield, rear clamshell vent stud broken off, airbag recall needs addressed and all the fluids should be changed). I never went past pulley/tune/Borla for engine mods, so we're pretty much at the same power level now too. Knowing your car is "like new" again gives me inspiration.
