Tesla finally fixed my car

It only took 10 months and 6 trips to the shop. They finally tracked down the problem with my radio to a blown fuse.

They also replaced the entire battery pack and installed some shinny new circuit boards.

Just goes to show that if you complain twice a week for 10 months you might finally get them to do something.

Friends don't let friends buy Tesla! You've been warned.:ack

Yes, but you are saving Polar Bears or Woodpeckers or something.

Glad to hear you are all squared away and that is behind you...enjoy.
I honestly have not missed my Tesla since selling her ...the driving experience became numb very quickly for me. I now added a ZR1 to the garage, although I have yet to drive her... because of my broken ankle. A couple more weeks..
By the way, are they servicing your Tesla at the new FL store or do you continue to work with John on the west coast?

I don't think I am saving any Polar Bears. The service guys put more miles on service vans coming out for repair than I put on the car.

Stewart, they still come to me. They came to my house to pick up my car and take it to the new shop to install the batteries.

I'm going to have to disagree on this one. I love my Tesla and drive it every day (my GT got put away for winter several months ago :frown).

Tesla support for me has been outstanding.

My experience with Telsa support is that they are very very nice about NOT fixing problems.

I guess I'm just lucky:wink

When my Tesla arrived, there was something wrong with the PEM. They were able to troubleshoot the problem from California via a satellite link to my car in Pennsylvania. A Tesla technician and the replacement parts were flown to my house within 24 hours and the problem was solved. I’ve never seen anything like it.

My car arrived with a broken Radio, Non functional AC, bad battery pack, one or two bad back planes and bad rearview mirror a stuck drink holder.

The initial reaction was that nothing was wrong, it's all 'normal' and someone will come take a look just to make me happy.

10 months later they finally decided to fix everyting, which was in fact messed up from day one.

I took it to Texas, it lost 60% of it's charge on the 3 day truck ride there. I made it around the track 1 1/2 times before the PEM over heated.

I understand cars have problems, but problems should get fixed.

I am glad you were lucky with your Tesla and enjoy it, after 10 months I'm disgusted, not mater how well it may work from now on, I'll always feel like it's junk, in fact, now that it's fixed I plan to sell it. would you like a second one? :thumbsup

I'm sorry to hear you had such a bad time.

There are 3 other guys near me who also have Roadsters. None of them have had any problems and love their cars.

Thanks for the offer of a second roadster, but I made a deal with my wife that I wouldn't buy any more cars until she got a new kitchen. Since I would be doing most of the carpentry work, it's a pretty safe bet that I'm done buying cars for a while.

The Model S is due to come out in 2012, which means Tesla might not have any revenue coming in until the all-electric sedan goes on sale. If there's a snag with anything in the launch of the sedan – design, production, engineering, you name it – then Tesla's in serious trouble. That might make investors wary when the upstart automaker finally begins offering shares.

Isn't the US government a big "investor?" I don't think they have a good track record of picking winners.

Actually the Tesla Roadster is already in generation 2, but most people don't know that. I am not sure how many Gen 1 they made, under 1,000 I think.
Gen 2 is almost the same, but the interior is all different. All 2008 are Gen 1 and all 2010 are Gen 2. There was no 2009 model year even though most 2008's were made in 2009.

Now that the stuff is all fixed I am actually starting to like it again, but the GT is just so much better. I also fear that come summer the AC won't be up to snuff, so I've got decisions to make.

I wouldn't be upset with problems, I expect that from such a new concept and new manfacture, but being told over and over, by 3 techs and 2 'customer advocates' that nothing is wrong when no one even checks is simply too much for me.

My point is when any of the big three ramp up mass production of an electric car their cost to manufacture will be way less than tesla's. It will add credibility to the market, but it will also open the door to a possible sub $30,000 electric car, perhaps less. I wish the little guy could win once in a while, but it rarely happens.

Chrysler has something in the works, Ford has an electric Focus coming and GM has the Chevy volt and a Caddilac variant.

Remember Saturn? They offered a unique buying experience and coddled the owners at first, but it didn't pay the bills.

Saturn? I thought that was a planet, or did they do away with it too when I was wasn't paying attention.

It is near your favorite planet that starts with a U.
