Tampa area paint shop

I have a relative in the Tampa area that is looking to paint a restored 1962 Corvette. It is nicely done, but going to be a driver. The estimates he has received must be for a show car, they are astronomical.

Does anyone know a shop in the area that does good paint work, but are not billing as "artists"?

Help please.

There is a Porsche specialist in Tampa, who fixed my wife's Cayman after an incident.
Work was outstanding.
Unfortunatly, I can't recall the name.
Should be easy to search.

This is not the answer you are looking for, but in the opposite corner of the country, I was told my ‘67 GT500 repaint would start at $45,000 if I brought it in stripped down on a Dolly.

Paint stripping is extra. He could hook me up with an acid dip stripper in Portland, add $4500-$5000

One who does great work and is fair on pricing I thought is Superior Auto Body. They did some amazing paint and body work on a Superformance Cobra that I have. I removed the side pipes and put under body exhaust on it. They filled in the large holes and blended the paint (Indigo Blue). Couldn't tell where it was blended, amazing work. Also a friend had them paint his vette, great job. Sterling reputation, might be worth a call. 727-525-7885. No affiliation, they are in Pinellas Park.

I had a really bad experience with Superior Auto Body in Gresham. I ended up having a lawyer threaten them to get the car finished, and even then the finish quality was mediocre. Shortly after that, the original owners sold the business to someone else. Be sure to check the most recent ratings before going there. They are now focused on the jacked-up, ridiculous wheeled, off-road market (that will probably never go off road).

Maybe that’s why. He told me it would be 8 months before he would take in another car.

FWIW, shops that “specialize” in Gen I Shelby restoration typically have starting points of $140,000 if you bring the whole car into them.

PeteK, I'm pretty sure that the Superior Auto Body I referenced in Pinellas Park has absolutely no connection to the Superior Auto Body you are talking about. The one I'm speaking of has been in business since 1967, is family owned, owners name is Ron. They have nearly a five star rating with 347 ratings on Google.

I believe the Porsche dealer that I referenced is Perez Autobody.
Still not sure, but I asked a friend.

Almost certainly no connection. I saw 2112’s reference to a place that does whole body acid dipping in Portland and got that crossed with the original subject. Mea culpa.
