Talk about a neat birthday present

Okay so this was cool enough where I figured I just had to pass it along. As some of you know, my father was a big influence into the role that cars played in my life especially with regards to the GT40. Well, my birthday is coming up in the next two weeks and every year he normally gets me some interesting die cast models since I collect 1/18th scale and other neat things. One of the ones I got this year was the Spark 1/18th 1969 LM winner, and I already had the 68 winner so I was really jacked. Then he says 'hang on, open this one'. I open the box and it's a Motor Max 1:12th Scale box with some weight to it. I already have the heritage version that I bought 10 years ago, but I was like 'thanks this is awesome!'. He tells me to open it.....

...and I see this:

What he did is he purchased a black car because of the stripes, disassembled the car and masked areas off, and painted the car to look just like my 2006 Tungsten. He took the time to put one of my old plates on it, paint the valve covers, even mask out the windows from the production model. It took a ton of work and he pulled it off amazingly.

I was completely floored and it's one of the best presents he's ever given me and he out does himself year after year. Had to share this with you guys, here are some more pics.

Interesting exhaust system, and rear suspension - -

I like the levered shocks, reducing the unsprung weight.

Very cool!
Can I have those headers?
Best,
Mark

Nice!
Attention to detail at its finest.

Way cool, Chris! I wonder if that model was developed from the concept...intake, exhaust, suspension differences. And the pre-production amber lenses. Would love to meet your dad.

That is some real craftsmanship. Congratulations.

This looks so sweet. I have that Proto type in White and black and never was able to find it in Heritage or Tungsten. I have always been tempted to paint one of them Tungsten to match my car but never had the balls to do it, Wow this looks so sweet. Can I commission your dad to do one for me to match my car? :) It looks awesome. Enjoy. Happy Birthday BTW.

Absolutely awesome. Wish I could find a Tungsten one. Have a great birthday, Marty

Just awesome

Is your Dad looking to adopt another son? My Birthday is not until next May, so he would have plenty of time to surprise me. Mine is Tungsten grey too.

cool,cool ,cool!

Really nice great gift especially from your Dad. I have the 1/12th Motormax models in white, red, black, and Heritage and tempted to try this and make a blue one. Not sure I have the patience or talent but yours looks awesome.

Thanks everyone for the kind words, my dad said he appreciates the kind words as well!
