I got a letter a couple of months ago ( my first) that said they'll let me know when parts are available. Radio silence since then

FYI all - I took my car in for the latest 14B09 "driver airbag inflator replacement" and was informed by the service manager it is an INTERIM fix.

Apparently there is plans in the works for another recall to even replace past changes as the replacement pars have showed signs of failure.

I've known the service manager for many years and don't doubt him but has anybody else heard about another pending recall?

Correct, the 1st recall is useless. The "real" fix wont be available until spring 2016.

I took my car to the dealer to have airbag recall fix on Wednesday, only to find out they had made a mistake when they told me they had the parts!! Wasted trip, said owners will get another notice when parts available.

There are two recalls: 14B09 from late 2014 and 15S21 from July 15. 14B09 replaces the actuator with the same one as before, which essentially resets the clock on corrosion. 15S21 is still listed as "parts not available".

Being in the desert I'm only going to have it done once and will wait for 15S21. If your car lives in a humid area consider having 14B09 done. I mean, the picture above is really kind of scary.

I got my second 14B09 recall a few weeks ago. Turns out it was a mistake and was notified by Ford that I already had me 'free replacement' done earlier this year. Gee thanks. It's ridiculously humid here. I think they should change these things out twice a year in cars living in these climates until they find the permanent fix.

Got my passenger side recall notice today. Apparently I can go to a dealer and get it fixed now. 99% of the time I'm driving solo so that doesn't help me much. Still no permanent fix for the driver's side actuator. I think I'll wait till both can be done at once.

Received mine as well, feel the same way, not going to go through the process 2x, want them both done at the same time!!!!

Just got my 14S281 yesterday and no parts available for either recall as yet, as per my old dealership. I would call and check on parts before taking GT in to Dealer.

Guys........... Our GT is located in the extreme NW of CONUS and the local dealership (Price Ford) is sending out a tech to facilitate the change in my shop. Trust this for both the L & R bags, or is this not correct? Have received numerous notifications from Ford for the recall and so, would believe that they have the "right stuff" ready to go.....

Happy Holidays.

Go to this website:

https://owner.ford.com/tools/account/maintenance/recalls/

and enter your VIN. It will tell you which recalls apply. Mine still shows the two drivers side but no passenger side 14B09 and 15S21.

Haven't read all of this, but has anyone heard of a GT airbag failure?

Received the first notification for my passenger side today. Had only received notice on the driver's side up until now.

They appear to be expanding the effected models again.

1-6-16:

Price Ford, Port Angeles, WA dispatched a very nice young man and Master Technician to my home shop to facilitate removal and replacement of the Takata air bag inflators.

Let me say it was a joy to be with Travis as my personal Master Tech as he was all of what I call the 4 C's: Courteous, Conscience, Capable, and Confident.

He described the work at hand and also took the time to discuss what could happen if any parts "broke" during disassembly and assured me that if any event happened, the broken parts could and would be replaced. This would be his third time replacing these items and so, he was charmed as well as experienced.

Driver's air bag "popped" out without any drama. Passenger bag was more involved with removal of the long lower dash trim piece and working the clips to get that bag mechanism free from it's home. Personally, did not expect to see any corrosion, but that was simply not the case.

The round cylinder was a little less than Herculean to remove due to the rust and there was also surprise to me seeing the rusty panels under the dash trim piece.

Certainly, some of the corrosion was initiated during the car's history in well known high humidity state in the SE, but equally at my home location along the shores of the Pacific Ocean and the Strait of Juan de Fuca.

Thanks again to Travis, Price Ford and our favored FMC.

DJ
