If you are looking for originality, Holman Moody has a handful of original Mk II tubs in their shop. They'll build an exact replica of the LeMans winning car or even an X1. As I recall, he was looking for around $500k for one. I think someone is doing the same with Mk IVs as well.

Tim
You should talk with Jeff and Dick Boulais. They probably have some of the most extensive experience with the SPF GT40 on this forum.

I'l look for a Kar Kraft continuation Mk IV.

Done deal. I pulled the trigger on a very specific GT40. It got loaded on a truck in San Francisco today destined for Charlotte, NC to Dennis Olthoff's shop to be completed. A very special car paying tribute to Dan Gurney. It bears Dan's signature and Carol Shelby's as it started life to celebrate Carol's 85th Birthday. It has a 1966 NOS dated correct 427 side oiler. Nearly everything about it is period correct. I personally know Goodyear's former race director who was the tire engineer on the original 1966 car, and good friend of Dan Gurney who endorsed the purchase. I will be in Mt. Ulla, NC to meet with Dennis Olthoff next week and to hopefully great the chassis upon its arrival before the drivetrain is fully installed. I will keep this thread alive with posts as it is finished and delivered.

Here is more about the car:

Excellent. Congrats Tim!!!

That's cool! I've been hanging on to a side oiler for a very similar project. I can't wait to see the progress!!

Dennis says it will. We shall see.

Congrats Tim, cool post. Sounds like a lot of fun.

I'm sure Ron (Pantera1889) can help with any ZF issues if you have them.

Dennis says it will. We shall see.

Great find Tim, can't wait to hear your track report when it's finished.
