I saw FL Chris's sub relocate finished installation. It looks great and sounds terrific !! I'd almost listen to that set up ! I'm still happy listening to the V8 & X pipe duet !!

I just received and installed the new upper console enclosure. Very nice.
I have a few questions:
1) How many of you re-used the "insullation" pad under the new enclosure vs. installing it as is? I did not re-use it but wonder if I should. I did the entire installation without doing the upper pocket enclosure and drove the car 200 miles...the metal panel never even got mildly warm, and I was resting my arm on it or near it most of the way.
2) Does any one know if the insullation pad was underneath the pocket enclosures for those who ordered or obtained their GT Big Mac free? I wonder if the real purpose of this pad was to protect the amp and subwoofer??
Just curious about your thoughts.

1) I reused the insulation figuring any level of thermal protection would be a plus; it only weighs a couple pounds so NBG there.

2) Perhaps ..... dunno!

The insulation pad was installed in Mac free cars as well. I had the same question during my install and put a call in to Stormcat, interrupting his dinner. He confirmed that his no-Mac car indeed had the insulation pad. I therefore installed my new panel with the insulation. PITA, but finally got it done.

Thanks for the comments. I will think about this. It was a PITA to get the console in without the pad, so I imagine worse with it. I just need to figure out a good way to hide those bulky amp wires...still beats having the Big Mac in!!!!

I did not reinstall it and do not miss it. If I has any concern for the benefit it would provide a piece a Dyna Mat or ? could be place on the bulkhead.

All the best

Does anyone have the part number(s) for the OEM replacement pocket once the sub is removed? Is it a single kit or a number of parts that must be ordered?

Here you go; it is a single piece however I have attached a Word doc with the picture and the part numbers. Printing it out might make your dealership experience more pleasant. BTW; you will need number 5.

Carbon Fiber option

For those of you who still need to buy a Factory Center console you maybe interested in the Carbon Fiber one I have. We are expecting the first batch in the end of next week. It will come with a Carbon Fiber front cover not the silver one shown. The CF looks great next to the back of the seats. There are some more photos in my gallery..
