Stock MAF limits

Hi,

I'm new to the forum and know little to nothing about Ford GT's. Ihave searched through previous threads but couldn't find the exact info I was looking for so figured I'd register and post a thread.

I'm wondering at around what power level the stock MAF maxes out in draw through, which I'm assuming is the stock configuration. Also, what size tube/airbox is the MAF in?

Also can someone confirm that the MAF in the GT is the same MAF as in the 05+ Mustangs? I cross referenced the part numbers at www.rockauto.com and they both use the same #. I'm trying out these MAF's in older turbo BMW's and figured this would be a good place to ask for info. Thanks!

The xfer function for the stock meter indicates it will peg at *edit*, but I think you can get an MAFia to extend the range for higher flow rates. You'll need a tune to use it.

Edit: Looks like the FGT meter reads 85.9 lb/min. Sorry gents.

Note: A Ford GT40 MAF will read approx. 85.9#/min at 5v. In comparison, a stock 90mm MAF and '07 Ford GT500 MAF will read approx. 69.5#/min at 5v. A BA2400 will read approx. 108.9#/min, and a BA2800 will read approx. 127#/min, both at 5v. These ratings aren't a measure of restriction, but instead a measure of the capabalities of their electronics range.

The xfer function for the 05 Mustang has it pegged it at just under 40 lb/min.

What does that relate to in terms of whp approximately? Thanks.

MAF's

The size of the MAF deturmends the MAX HP it can support. You can add a MAFia to fool it, to take more HP or you can use a LARGER MAF to do the same thing.

Actually, the physical size of the MAF does not affect the amount of horsepower that it can support. It has to do with the electronics that calculate the airflow. Hence the principles of the MAFia. The biggest problem isn't really the MAF meter, it's that the ford computer only allows a 5v input signal. The MAF can read to a little over 12v. e36'n do an airflow calc. for your engine to get a baseline lb/min of air to horsepower. Then you'll have a good idea what you'l need.

Actually, the PHYSICAL SIZE will deturmine the MAX airflow that the MAF will flow BEFORE it PEGS @ 5v. That is NOW, why they are going to a larger MAF, than changing to a MAFia or new electronics; for more HP, using the same electronics.

The MAF sensor is part of the airbox, the only larger MAF's (SCT 2800) are on the tt's, when the stock airbox has been abandoned.

The SCT BA2800 is not a LARGER MAF; It is SMALLER than the STOCK GT MAF!! The electronics lets you scale the MAF for more HP. The SCT BA2400/2600/2800 are 90mm MAF's. the STOCK GT MAF is 130mm.

Thanks for the good info.
