Still in the hunt...questions

Still looking at GTs on ebay, dealers and with Shelby, who has been quite helpful.

Just curious, when I have bought Vipers (7) the first things I usually do is put on Corsas, 3M bra and on some chrome the wheels (via Calchrome). I also ALWAYS get extended warranties which seem a waste of time on GTs since Ford unlike Dodge has no interest.

With GTs I assume since the value holds better than Vipers, folks tend to leave them alone. But what is any are the typical "light" mods?

My other worry is getting service. The BEST thing about Vipers is dedicated Viper techs and i have one locally who I have relied on 15 years. With a GT I am not sure where I would turn. I am told no one locally is qualified so I would likely buy a manual and get my Viper tech to self train which I am sure he could. Thanks

get a pulley/tune/exhaust early after buying the car. Then about 3-4 months later get the SC/TT setup Hennessey sells. I GUARANTEE it will put a smile on your face, it does for me every time I drive mine.

Depending on your location there is a handful of places to go for service and upgrade. In SoCal, Kendall aka Cooltech is the place to go. Shadowman is central and northern CA and there is the GT Guys that travel all over the US.

Light Mods in my opinion are Bumper Delete, Exhaust, Transaxle cooler, Pulley Upgrade/Tune and better tires than the Goodyears.

There are also effective suspension mods with various shock set ups, the short throw shifter upgrade is very noticeable with spirited driving.

paint protection film. if the car does not already have it. Then a TRANSAXLE cooler and an exhaust. Learn the car for a bit then go for adding power.

Sorry guys for being the spoiler here but frankly, after seeing two of the cars that I have owned in the past wrecked within the first 100 miles by the new owner I feel compelled to pass this advice on.

Also, know that the Eagle F1's are slick when the temps are under 50. when the car slides under power. stay on the throttle and drive it out! both new owners torque crashed the cars. :ack

5) Penske adjustable suspension/ 2 piece fender liners
6) transaxle cooler
7) Brembo rotors
8) Pulley, throttle body and tune

The GT Guys, Shadowman, and others can be relied upon for supreme service, and everything else anyone could possibly want done to their cars. For oil changes and regular maintenance, it is in many ways the easiest car I have worked on, though a bit more time consuming.

EP was the only owner that literally left his car alone, alone in the garage never to see the light of day! :rofl

IMHO, the marque best known for being left alone is Ferrari.

As far as service, I am in Richmond and the pickens are slim. Bernie says there is a good guy about 70 miles away.

I clear bra all cars and if I get it will do that. I am aware of the cold tire issue. My 09 CTS-V has PS2s and they are like hockey pucks below 38 degrees so I switch to Sottos in Winter.

I tend to drive the pi$$ out of my cars . The only exception is my 92 VIN 00002 Viper I bought from Bob Lutz--that sits.
