Didn't at least a few of the street GT40s sport that lettering 'back in the day'? Perhaps that's what prompted their addition.

Pic taken by a friend yesterday, Saturday 9/7.

I figured I would see if anyone knows the car before I start bashing it. LOL.

He said it has raised scoops on the clamshell.

Apparently, an attempt to come closer to GT40 design elements.

It’s the fall festival, bunch of carnie rides and such. Always a small car show that goes on as part of the festival.

Also has a single hood radiator air exit (not good for air intake to cabin!), and a Gurney bubble. I like the overall effect, but will keep my car stock!

Paint it Wimbledon White and throw on some vintage looking knock-offs and it would be killer. The Ford lettering is correct for some of the early cars.

Guilty as charged! working up a complete build history on the car and what all was done. will post when finished. the camera phone does not pick up the color correctly but also correct is that the car is not the Ford GT red. I will have the car in PLymouth next Saturday morning for Cars and Coffee. the car has a revised chassis and revised suspension done by Superlite Cars which they are putting into production. see ya then !

I have only seen the Ford lettering on the Mk III, and it didn't look good.

NorthwoodGT, If you don't mind posting the last four VIN and year I can help you with your build history as it left the factory. Normally I'd ask you via PM but I am not permitted PM's.

Ralphie- my painter and I worked on the hood for a good month to get the look I wanted. same for the rear clam brake scoops. the hood looks as good underneath as the top side. the funny part is that I positioned the rear scoops where I wanted them to clear the bottom edge of the back glass because I'm working on a hinged back window to lift up at the bottom to let the heat out. as it turned out, the scoops ended up right over the chamber that delivers fresh air to the air cleaner from the roof scoops so now the rear scoops bring in fresh air as well to the air cleaner. I had contacted Saleen about installing the Dan Gurney bubble. they said it would cost $6,000.00 with paint. I purchased the bubble form a kit car company and we stepped down the door roof panel for the scoop to sit right in. some commercial grade expoxy and finish and she was done. wasn't going for any specific car. just knowing I will never own a real GT40 but love several differrent styling cues from those cars back in the day so just went for what all I like on both the GT40 and the GT. can't please everybody but it pleases me. working on doing a custom GTX1 for the next project.

Did you consider changing the roof Air Scoops to the Mark II style, along with the Brake Air Scoops?
