I have a new problem that I haven't seen posted here before, and yes Frank I did a search so don't bust my chops like you do to those newbies.. :biggrin

I took my red car out for it's monthly drive. It doesn't get driven too much. It has a whopping 500 miles on the clock. It's all stock and it will be babied until it hits 1000 miles..

The speedo starts out at 90 MPH,, it is working but it never drops back to zero. I was going about an actuall 50 MPH and the spped was reading 140 MPH.. when I stopped it stayed at 90 MPH... funny thing is I don't think it has been to 90 mph so I am not sure how it got up there ?? The battery is good and all the other gauges are working fine ??

If I recall the sending unit is a magnetic pick up type.. Any ideas on how to get the speedo back to rest on the " 0 "

The needle probably spun on the shaft. It is hard to open the speedo up without damaging it's appearance. I would go with a full set of Speedhut gauges at about the same price as a OEM speedo.

It's just another gauge failure. I have had 2 or 3 different speedos fail in this manor. Time for a new one. I bet it will stop working completely over the next couple of drives...

I'm curious, why are you waiting on getting the speedhut gauges. I'm serious, is there something you can share that is stopping you. I think those of us who have done the change can answer your questions.

Lorenzo: I have a GOOD used water and temp gauge, that I will sell you for about half the price (+S/H) of a new gauge!!!

I plan to change out the whole thing with speed hut, as soon as i can have the large speedo, A/F ratio and volt in the same gauge, and a carbon fiber mounting plate.
the whole dam thing just dosent thrill me at this point.

Try using a strong magnet to return it to zero. Make sure you don't scratch the glass or it's coating. This will give you and idea just how loose it might be.

I'm on my 4th speedo. I won't be getting an OEM 5th speedo.
