I was fortunate enough to witness the last night launch of a shuttle in April of last year, a memory that I will never forget. Also had the opportunity to take the tour however the general public doesn't get the chance to see what goes on behind the closed doors.

Cool. Not to be a downer, but the only shuttle launch I witnessed live on the ground was the Challenger in 86. I just happened to be there on business and an engineer said let's go watch the launch. Not a fun day.

I have an uncanny knack for being at the right or wrong place. I was in Germany when the wall came down, and on the inside wall in turn 4 when Earnhardt crashed--maybe 30 yards away.

That's amazing. I hadn't expected the shuttle to go vertical in the hangar!

Incredible technology.

In the UK the BBC has been showing a program called 'wonders of the universe'. I have to say, that even with the mind-boggling technology of the shuttle, we are so meaningless, tiny and puny in the Grand Scheme of the universe. Amongst the billions of galaxies, each comprised of billions of stars, human achievement seems so small when set against such a large backcloth.

However, it is due to the endeavours of NASA that we are starting to explore and understand the vastness beyond.

Gentlemen,

In a few weeks, for the first time in half a century, the United States will no longer be able to put a man into orbit. It's enough to make me want to scream. NASA can now concentrate on "Muslim Outreach". The glorious rocket flames that sent Americans to the moon and that propelled the only reusable space craft will be replaced with hot air blowing smoke up the flowing robes of stone age savages who stone young girls to death for talking to an unrelated boy. We want them to feel better about their (nonexistent) contributions to math & science.

My wife and myself watched a Shuttle Launch a few years back and it gave me goose bumps. Choosing to support Parasites instead of investing in new engineering marvels is Un-American and makes me sick to my stomach.
