We had extremely heavy rains yesterday. Heaviest I can recall. It was about 8 straight hours of serious torrential downpour that just overwhelmed the streets and especially freeways. Over by Ford WHQ I saw the freeway flooded all the way up to the service drive, which has to be a good 20 feet. A great many people I know were posting on FB last night as their homes became indoor waterparks and their streets became rivers filled with submerged cars. One of the reasons I'm thankful to live in an old sub called Hilltop Estates. Thankfully while probably hundreds of cars were lost, haven't heard of any flood-related fatalities.

A buddy of mine just bought a house a couple weeks ago and this happened:

Holy hell Dave. Hope you, your family and friends are safe and dry.

That's nuts. And not being sarcastic at all, but I wish we had that rain. Wouldn't even put a dent in the current drought:(

Sucks. I hope all area folks are well.

Wow glad you guys are OK

Glad you've heard of no fatalities. Looks like your buddy saved his golf clubs and the beer. Wow what a mess.

Mother Nature always wins! 4.5" of rain is huge. Living at the top of the hill has advantages

Wow, that's scary. Glad to hear you're ok. Hope the same can be said for all the other people.

We had 14" during our floods in Sept 2013. Our little trout stream with 8' to the bottom of the bridge was 2' over the top. Some people will never rebuild. My best friend did "easier to apologize than ask permission" and was literally first at everything he did (with restrictions for those after) and just got his certificate of occupancy on his new flood proof house.

WOW what amazing pictures. Its on its way to us, tomorrow.

Crazy. CNBC reports 2 related deaths.

It's been raining here in Mammoth almost everyday, but, fortunately, not torrential as has hit Detroit! Just a summer shower, 1-3 times each day - actually quite pleasant.

I'm hoping that the Ford plants, design, and engineering - and especially the Proving Grounds - have escaped major damages.

YOWZA!
Those are some pictures! I hope no GT’s were harmed in any of those photos!
Wonder how long it will take to get those flooded cars back on the maker for sales?

Dagg gone Dave! That's some crazy goings on!

Yeah, it was some wacky weather, and it poured again yesterday. Bummer. I'm thinking it may be a minute before some of these roads are clear. Major interchange as of last night was still a lake.

Glad I live in dry Seattle.

Islip, NY had 13.5" of rain in just a few hours - 100+ year record

You buy a houseboat?

No houseboat, but I have 35 foot cabin cruiser up in Alton, just above the locks.
