Congratulations guys/gals who are making the trip with your cars. I can't imagine the anxiety of knowing your car is in a ship container with Joe Blow running the crane and stacking them 50ft high on a container ship!! I know it's done a million times a day with few incidents but I'm sure y'all are having nightmares!

I'm sure the anxiety will be worth it when you are cruising around!!

Hey, when I saw you guy's cars in those containers, that's all I could think about. I use to live on the coast and be out fishing and see one of those monstrosities out on the open sea. Hey they do it millions of times a week with very few incidents. It's really incredible!!

Congrats. We will all be jealous!! Plus I'm sure you guys will get extra points in the application process since you will be rubbing elbows with "the higher ups ". Honestly more power to you for taking off work and the cost to get over there with your cars!!

disappointed I found out to late that the shipping of the GT's was back on... I would have done it at the last minute but too much trouble for just 3 days of driving to and from the track at Le Mans. I would have loved to ship early and do some driving in Europe before the race with other GT owners...

Same here. I must have missed that thread. Probably too consumed with the NFGT section

Did anyone consider air freight?

Air freight is about $25k unless you fill an entire cargo bay. Expensive flight.

Never thought about it until this, but I assume every Ferrari, Lamborghini, Porsche, etc get over here by boat?

I would have taken mine at the last minute but it would have been a lot of work for 3 days of using it for transportation to and from the race... just didn't seem like it was worth it. If I could have gone in advance with other Forum members and had some driving thru France and the surrounding area it would have been well worth it.

I would consider sending my car again next year. Good anniversary in 2017 too.

Depends on if the boat sinks this year.

I would make a wager that in 2017 your NFGT will make the trip :)

Isn't there a rule that no more than 2 FGTs can be on any ship at the same time. Sort of like company execs on airplanes. I remember one business convention where we had a whole bunch from the site going. There were two VPs - the limit - but a whole bunch like 15 of the rest of us worker bees.

Dear, JPO Pisces

#6 and #34 are riding along with you on your trip across the Atlantic tomorrow. Please steer towards good weather and away from pirates!

Thanks,

I would love to take mine next year if we have a plan in advance so we can purchase airline tickets to match the trip planned with the cars.
