So, how hard and how much is the NFGT going to be on the secondary market?? I know most guys on here that get one won't be selling, but I'd love to know I could find one down the road if not one of the chosen few (and a lot of you guys do deserve one for sure) I wish every fgtforum person got a chance.

Think the CGT is a good comparison??? I think some folks will get one and drive one and want the latest greatest thing in 2-3 years and sell. I know the market will determine value but WE are the one that really want the car to keep and drive. A lot of these guys (Verlander, Salomondrin, and the list goes on and on) want it because it's the latest greatest thing.

There is supposed to be a right of first refusal clause in the purchase agreement. It was bantered about that it would be three years, so you have a while to wait.

If I am one of the chosen, I'll have my grandkids let you know when they get all my GT's from my will.

....and no Frank. I don't want to adopt you.

The Ts&Cs make mention of such a condition. I've heard two years which sort of makes sense since the current program covers two years of production.

This car will double in value (or more)on the secondary market.IMO

I have heard 2 years as well. FWIW.

Lots of people trying to get them just to sell them. Guys who changed their tune on the car when they heard the allocation process because now they think they can get one and make some money on it. Guys banding together to split one as an investment if any gets an allocation.

Like every other car, they will end up on the resale market. The prices of exotic cars swing wildly based on exogenous events. I wouldn't be surprised if they stay way over MSRP forever, but I won't be surprised if they don't. Remember, there was a time not that long ago the $440k MSRP CGT you buy today for $800k could be bought deep in the $300s. P1s and 918s were available to be ordered at MSRP by anyone before they jumped near the end of production.

Also, anytime there's any kind of prohibition on sale, don't be surprised if the market floods when it ends. That could happen with 918 at the expiry of the remaining insider circle obligations.

Exogenous I had to look it up. Not erogenous.

BTW, you have a very good understanding of markets, impressive for a youngster.

I try!

Can't spell, I thought he saying (i)egnoramus.

I agree Dave. In 2008, I took my GT to a huge Porsche, BMW, & MB dealer locally. They had two Carerra GTs on the shorwroom floor, collecting dust. I think they eventually sold for mid $300s. Ugh, woulda, coulda, shoulda...

GT pricing

I also agree with Dave on this one. Prices in the future could go either way once the GT is out and on the market. The rollercoaster pricing on our cars is a great example. We are all huge fans but outside our circle the new GT may be viewed quite differently. Many potential buyers are turned off by the chosen engine, Ford detractors think the price is way too high for a Ford. Low production numbers will attract high end collectors and speculators but still high end cars and collectables are not immune to price corrections. Either way I'm all in
if by some longshot my number is drawn.:thumbsup

I don't know what drives the prices of these things. For whatever reason I was able to get my 1200 mile, 1 owner, no stories GT in 2008 for ~MSRP.

Maybe when the luster wears off, or when the market is flooded with spec buyer's cars, or when Ford improves on the next MY release, or if Ford decides to continue production, economy sinks, or..... whatever.

Hopefully it happens so I can swoop in. :driving: If not, guess I'll be able to send my kids to college. :biggrin

there was a gray one in Houston with 8K miles for 220K at one point!

That's the biggest factor. Anything rare in the car world can go for silly money in the right circumstances. Economy blows up, all bets are off. Only mitigating factor in that scenario is that so many billionaires and 8-9 figure fortune guys have been minted in the last 7 years that one guy could wake up and buy the entire production run. I laugh at people asking if there are enough people to buy a $450k Ford. There are literally 10+ million households in the U.S with $1+ million investable assets.

I'm not saying the new GT won't be worth a truckload of money at some point. I'm sure the first asking prices will be crazy, like $1 million. I just think it would be a shame if we spent year after year debating it and assessing the car based on it. That's not why they burn the candle at both ends engineering these things.

Great point. This isn't either. They are gonna make it difficult. :thumbsup

Lot #401 2006 FORD GT HERITAGE EDITION WITH LESS THAN 5 ACTUAL MILES

I suppose the 'still on MSO' thing seen on other GTs won't be possible either.

I agree, if I am chosen to get one it will remain with me until I go out for the count.
Just like the present Heritage will.
Secondary market is not a factor to consider for me
Passions and dreams are not for sale.

You is correct.
