Where is the best place to buy the best seat lowering kit? Thanks in advance

It's not a kit. They simply remove the seat bottom and remove some padding and recover it. Add about 1.5-2" headroom.
Search on forum for oodles of info. Someone who is a good trimmer can do it and it should be unnoticeable. I believe mine was done by Knights Autoworks (search forum for contact).

I dont like the sound of that at all. i thought there was something i could buy and install and not have to open the seat. i guess ill just have to cut my hair short

He did a great job on my seat. Completely unnoticeable visually, but added enough needed headroom.
I am very happy with it and would not hesitate to have it done on another GT.

Knights did all the interior work for the gtx 1. So not your usual shop that is learning on your seat. Steve has done a LOT of our seats.

is there any difference to how the seat feels?

Feels same to me. Added about 2" headroom. At around 6'5" tall, in a stock seat my hair touched the roof. I could drive without lowering it, but not idea.
Now I have some clearance. I can also wear a helmet, though it brushes against the roof.

Steve also did both of my X1's. Couldn't be happier with the results. Here is a link to his new website. www.tailoredbyknights.com

Shortly after I got the GT I took a seat out with the intentions of lowering it, it was only out for a couple minutes. I don't remember exactly but I think it is basically on the floor, limiting lowering options to inside the seat or major surgery.

I have measured before and after with seats lowered but Knight and others. The lowering of the top of your head is 5/8" The total thickness of all the foam is probably less than an inch when you are sitting on it. That 5/8" is enough to make quite a difference though.

My current GT has the modified, lowered seat (cushion removed). I've also owned a non-modified GT at the same time. Here are my observations.

Looks:
- If you're looking at the modified seat itself, you cannot tell the difference from the OEM.
- If you look back and forth between the driver and passenger seat, it looks like the passengers seat is extremely padded.
- "Seat Buttons" fit fine in both the modified seat and the OEM seat.

Feel:
- I can tell the difference between the two. Not quite as comfortable for long hauls. But certainly is fine.
- Having said that, I'd take the positives of the lowered seat over the cushion.
- Hoping between my totally OEM GT and my modified GT, it made the OEM drivers seat feel like I was climbing into an F150.

Visibility & the Track:
- I'm 6' and it seemed like the car completely opened up to me visibility wise (other than the rear view).
- I don't have to lean the seat way back and crunch my neck when my helmet is on. Very manageable and comfortable for a day long track session.

**For those of you tracking...there is soon a cool new "kit" that will provide more headroom and a very, very lightweight carbon fiber seat. Keep an eye on Tecnocraft and our GT.

AZSTAD pretty much covers it - I am 6"3 and had my seat modified as well. You can not tell when you look at the seat and I gained almost 2". They used a gel pad instead of foam and the seat is really comfortable with lot's of head room. This first thing to driving a car to the limits is the the drivers comfort and seated position, being laid back in the seat like a low-rider is not optimal

I don't know what the OE seat weighs but the Tecnocraft seat w/ Bracket is supposed to be around 8lb! That's free HP!
