Scratches on Door Sills

I have some scratches on the "brushed" finish of the driver door sill, the inner part that faces the edge of the seat. Anyone found a way to take care of these, short of replacement? The only ideas I have would be steel wool or 3M pad...but sure don't want to experiment. :eek
Thanks.

Nice plate...mine is LE MANS 8.
As far as the sills are concerned, try a good quality rouge (compounding) rub and go slowly and carefully. Should work if you don't rush the job.

You can warranty them; there is a delamination defect in finish...its discussed here somewhere

Torrie has them in stock; OR, order custom ones from Jake as seen in other active threads here. They bend very easily coming off, so removing them to service is not an option. Look fors jewelers rouge, but you might start off with tooth paste, the weakest abrasive I know of.

Replace and seal with film is what I did.

Replace and seal with film is what I did.

Be careful with that! When I bought my used 05 GT there was plastic on the sills. I don't know if factory or dealer installed but the plastic had been on so long it came off hard and left stains on the aluminum! After trying everything I finally just bought new and replaced them !! :frown :eek

I believe KJRGT is referring to the actual sill assy, not the inlay cover.

Hi Guys,
Thanks for the responses...I've been out of town and now just reading them. Yeah, I am talking about the large part of the sill located on the inside at a 45 degree angle of sorts...not the top. And because of what I call a "brushed aluminium" look I don't want to mess them up if I can get the scratches out. So if I go with a rouge or toothpaste, just use a rag and make sure I rub horizontally with the finish?
Either way it probably makes sense to get another set anyway to put them away.

I just bought a back up set when I first bought the tungsten from Buerge. Just order another pair, then you don't have to worry about a little scratch.
