:) I wouldn't know where to start. Ray, you are clearly an important part of the story as the owner of a very significant piece of the Matech history, so I think I need to interview you at length, in person, all over the USA ;-)

Seriously though...I think we need to put together a plan of action on this. I'll have a chat with Thomas and Sascha and Valerie as between us, you Ray and Chip's vast array of skills, I think we can document the story quite well. There are a number of other people we should speak to and I'll get a list together. This is important...certainly for me personally, but also for those that experienced Matech.

Steven,

In the fall I should have time to fly to Europe to conduct taped interviews with as many of the players as possible. I would really like Martin's wifes blessing and cooperation for this project. We would need to agree on a general outline and format, obviously with a ton of photos. You provide photos and information, help me arrange interviews, and I'll write the copy.

Truly another sad moment in Matech's very short but very bright life.

I think about Matech, Martin, our team, our cars, you our supporters and now lifelong friends, and fans, every single day without fail ! While there are many sad things to reflect upon, I try look back on the best of times as the memories I choose to keep at the front of my mind. Here are just a couple of my memories...that often bring a little tear of joy to my face...
Steven.

Thanks for your support of forum Steven. It was a pleasure meeting you in France and spending some time in our adjoining garages at VIR last Fall. I thought of you during these times and hope you find success in your ventures. Hopefully we'll see you again, please stay in touch with the Forum.

I am very saddened by the news of Martin's passing. Its like a bad dream or really more of a big rip off that a young, healthy strong guy like that in the prime of his life be taken from his family, friends and fans. And all his hard work and plans that helped put our beloved FORD GT to get rightfully back where she belongs, at the front, the car to beat, the leader, the return of a legend.

I just want to tell all of you, that I feel very privileged and lucky that I was able to be part of Le Mans and get to meet many of you and Martin. I shall never forget the moment he came over to the fans side of the hospitality to tell us all that the car had to finally retire. I just happened to be standing in the door way between the two sides and Martin walked right up to me with big tears in his eyes and said he was really sorry they failed. I tell you what guys, I almost broke down right there and struggled not to fall apart. All I could think of to say in a hurry was, don't worry you did all you could and you are true champions and we will return even stronger next year.

Its to bad this great team has come to such an abrupt end.

Sincerely

Stefan (stef) Hekler
