All clear in Doral since last night. Had a pretty good scare for a while there.

Lost a bunch of trees. House, us and chickens are fine. Didn't even lose power, although half the county is still out. Got off easy, except for the angst watching this. We are the blue dot. Actual track of the eye was about 15 miles east.

Hey Paul, was going to send you a text and check on you and the family . I hope you guys come out of this thing unscathed. It's 8:30 p.m. and we're still feeling strong winds over here on the East Coast.. . Be safe my friend and report in when you're clear...

Thanks Brian. All good here. We lost some trees that needed to be removed anyway, but fortunately nothing hit the house. I hope you are well and safe.

Glad things turned out much better than expected.

How big was the storm surge after all was said and done?

Obviously not enough if these three are communicating.

 :rofl

Haven't seen a surge report for Sarasota area, but the surge was enough to eff up many Gulf and bayfront homes.

Funniest thing I read all day.

Apparently Dr. Frank loves you guys so much, he can harass in a familial and friendly way.

I'm glad that you guys made it through this storm as reasonably as possible.

1418 is safe. Surge was about 5-6 feet in the Gables waterway. Wind gust were probably close or just at 100.
We really got lucky this time!

By and large we were lucky. I'm on generator power at the house enjoying microwaved Spaghetti-Os. Mmmmm. Tomorrow I'll treat myself to canned tuna and Club crackers.

Frank's jealous that we're living so large.

Escaped structural damage for the most part both in town and on the beach. Cars ok too. Very lucky.

I agree. It's all that really matters. I was a bit shattered seeing the news while Irma was passing the caribean islands/florida, it's something we in Europe aren't used to in any way.

Florida population = 20.6 million.

Floridians without power > 12 million.

May need armed defense against air conditioning seekers. The mosquito population has multiplied exponentially.

Parts of NE Florida a hot mess with trees down and lots of flooding to low areas. Fortunately, our house, cars, and offices are high and bone dry.

Feels like we are living in the 1920s though, as our generator will run some fans, but is without enough power to run A/C.

Very lucky here in Clearwater!
No trees on our property, or water.
Trees down on all of the rest of the development..
Highest recorded wind gust was 149 mph!
Best to all that endured this nastiness.

Florida population = 20.6 million.

Floridians without power > 12 million.

Damn, 60% of the entire population of Florida is without power!?! That is far more serious than the hurricane. Grocery stores and gas stations must also be shut down in huge numbers. The worst may be yet to come here if it takes as long to restore power to some areas as is being reported now. Ugh.

Does anyone have a recipe to make microwaved Chef Boyardee raviolis taste like something other than dog food?
