Rotors and Caliper parts

I have pulsating coming from my front rotors at only 4K+ miles - Ughhhhh. I have to change them out and was wondering if anyone here has some thoughts as to which way to go. My preference is cross drilled and slotted. I sell Xtreme Stop brakes and rotors - and they are unreal in terms of performance, but they don't make them for the GT.

Next, my red painted calipers are starting to peel at the bleeder valves and I want to powder coat them this time around. Does anyone know where I can buy the rebuild kits for these things?

I thought this was all stock Brembo stuff just from the Aston Martin parts bin.

I believe that is correct. Many other cars also use the same calipers.

You should look into a set of the FRPP 2 piece rotors.

There is a brake thread here covering a lot of info. Search can be your friend.

You could also go with these.

I considered 2 piece rotors but stayed with OEM. Slotted 2-pc cost about $2k/pr (fronts) to start, then $1100/pr to replace the front friction disc. Slotted disc's last 3 times as long (at best) but you can get OEM disc's for $400/pr for fronts. The economics did not make sense at the time, Plus my stopping power with Pagid yellow #29 on the OEM disc was excellent. Just my experience e.

Thanks for the input all! I think I found the caliper rebuilt kits and am looking at rotors now as well! Don't think I'd bother with race rotors as they're just not worth the additional expense to me, but it turns out that my supplier may have cross-drilled, slotted rotors for the GT. I have their products on two of my vehicles and they're outstanding at any price!

Perfect agreement here on that. I use the Pagid yellow pads with stock calipers and rotors on the track also. For my driving they are great.

If you ever track, mile, or drive your GT aggressively, I'd stay away from any drilled rotors. I have had a couple sets and they always crack where they are drilled. My GT is on the dyno right now and I'm staring at my cracked rear rotors. My undrilled slotted front rotors are fine.

I don't track or mile it and I really don't brake it aggressively either. I still can't believe my fronts warped with so little mileage. I could understand rears warping if using the handbrake after a good run, but not fronts at under 5K miles on the car? The cracking I've seen in drilled rotors, have in many (but not all) cases been due to the quality of the rotor itself. I know GM uses some of the worst rotors in existence. My Z06 rotors warped in under 8k miles. My 201 GMC 2500 ate its rotors at 10k miles. My SRT10 Viper uses no cross-drilled or slotted rotors and at 18000 miles, still brakes like my bikes.

I have a set of the cross-drilled, slotted rotors from Xtreme Stop, that we sell...with specially formulated, matched pads on my 3500 Dually and as well on my 2500. They take quite a bit of abuse with the (much) larger-than-stock wheel/ tire combo on both trucks, not to mention that the Dually is over 8k LBS and is putting down 525 RWHP with 1000 RWTQ. I beat the crap of that that thing day in and day out I and stop it hard enough to make my stomach turn...and the rotors are literally perfect after 15k miles. I just had them off and fully checked again 2 days ago, as we're in the process of putting them into a major retailer and I want to be absolutely sure we're not going to run into returns and defectives. They're Canadian made from high quality steel and are far superior to any OEM application they replace. I know a lot of products out there are manufactured overseas and have inherent issues with quality. My stock GT OE rotors gave out at just around 4k miles with some serious warping...and they are supposed to be a high quality disc...go figger.

Have you checked the calipers do see of the pads are binding causing constant heat? I had an old Vette that the pads didn't retract correctly.

Just get the wheels off of the ground and give them a spin. The fronts are easier to check no transaxle drag.

I have tracked my GT extensively with OEM drilled & Stillen/AP drilled rotors. I haven't cracked or warped one yet but have worn out plenty of pads & rotors. I use a softer pad material which wears faster but is probably kinder to the rotor.

PS But I also have fan assisted front brake ducts.

Are you sure they are warped? Maybe just pad or rust build up in a spot on the rotor? Go out and do a few real hard stops 70-20 mph, Drag the brakes to clean off the rust then drive around to cool. See if that works, before you drop $ on rotors.

Already done - that was the 1st thing I tried. The chatter/ pulsating gave it away!

Anyone know the piston diameters for the front and back calipers by chance?
