You've likely seen some old rocket sled footage now and then, but this documentary goes into some great detail of this amazing thing your tax dollars and some cool minds built in the 50's-60's. Listen closely to some of the specs of this 35,0000 ft long marvel, and all with vacuum tube technology. We could not have gone to the moon without it, at least not on the first few tries. It's still there, I've flown over it a time or two.

PS - the record run on that track was 6,589 mph.

Good question. I was thinking about the Texas Mile runs, data collection and I guess I just wondered off...
 
Imagine the rush from being on one of those sleds..........puts the mile runs into perspective. Buts it's all relative, and I applaud all who participate.
