Road and Track

Never underestimate the result of putting a $50K butt in a $500K seat. The intent was to expose 'media' to a car that othverwise doesn't need their review or input to be sold. It was merely an offer of goodwill that Ford didn't have to provide. As they say, a good deed never goes unpunished.

I'm going to test a copy of R&T against Charmin to see how it performs.

Ford should respond to their subterfuge by not giving them a car to test at normal altitudes while providing test cars to other publications. The only good thing about R&T is Randy Pobst, everything else is mediocre.

Turbo FI engines are much less affected at altitude, but are affected nevertheless. If you look at the NHRA correction factors, you can see that at 4000' plus elevation, the correction can be significant.
Good to know. Thanks.

Ha ha, good one Sinovac. Would you please bring some t o Utah as I don't have a subscription.

The article itself was actually very favorable.

It was cold that day, so temp was only a positive factor if anything. As stated, altitude impacts forced induction cars too, just less than normally aspirated.

Without the correction factor the numbers are next to useless. One car, one day, one driver (at altitude), with no correction. Mildly interesting to see their results under these circumstances? Sure. An accurate representation to put up against all the other (corrected) numbers out for competitive models? Not even close.

Plus, as stated, straightline numbers on this car are like accuracy measurements for a shot gun. Not really the point of this machine, so I don't personally care.
