Sadly, I got a phone call today from Fred's wife, Sherry. Fred (Spirit) passed away at home on hospice after a lengthy battle with cancer. A while back Fred broke his hip. One of his cows knocked him down, and being a tough guy, he continued working and walking on it! Ultimately he had his hip replaced, but in the process, lung cancer was diagnosed. He underwent chemo, radiation, and finally an experimental clinical trial. Through it all he kept his kind, gentle, easy going demeanor. He kept his problem private and didn't complain one bit.
Fred's wishes were to be cremated and that a big party be thrown in his memory. The plans are to give him his last ride in his new FGT next spring with a gathering here in the Texas Hill Country.

Oh No, so sad to hear! Fred was such a wonderful Ford Guy and will be so missed by all. He was so private and never let on how sick he really was. Sue and I are praying for Sherry and their Family. May he Rest In Peace. Seems like we text about his GT only a short time ago! Life is so short for the best people sometimes. Tomy & Sue

Fred loved his Morgan. Gulf livery, of course. Mongrel didn't fit in it so well. 2016 Texas Hill Country FGT gathering. Someone flip this iPhone pic!

So sad to hear this news. I sat at a table with Fred and Sherry at my first Rally, IV, and got to know them through that. Recall chasing him at times on the way to Rally X in Detroit. He will be missed. We will keep Sherry in our prayers. Thanks for sharing Ajai.

I too was sadden by the call Susan and I got today. So many fond memories of travels in our GT and gatherings with Fred and Sherri. He was the one who convinced me that I was missing out by not driving my GT to the Rallies. Left the trailer at home and off we went with a Texas contingent driving to the last Rally in Utah. What a fun trip!

May Fred find eternal peace, an unlimited speed-limit road and a Ford GT to drive on it that never runs out of Gas! :driving::cheers
