Cannibal - Think how big they would look with the rear bumper delete!

The frikin diffuser is fiberglass..unless you went total anal on it...DOODS....take it to your local surf shop and for a cowabonga price, they will surely retro your analness back to original condition. :lol

I just did that..... u can't even see it has been repaired. $200 thank you very much!

Guys replacing the rear diffuser with the Stillin unit....
Just understand WHAT you are buying.

True, it is made of much more damage resistent urethane plastic. And you may think it looks "meaner" as installed on our car..

But is longer in length than the factory unit (for whatever reason) and will effect the aerodynamics of our cars, specifically the front/rear balance. I spoke to several of the FGT engineering team in Calif while we toured the Stillen facility and they presented all their hardware.

May or may not be noticible to you, just buyer beware.

Personally I like Mike's idea of the Bondo fix if ever I need to patch a corner on mine. Thanks for the suggestion Mike!

Is that a whole new assy pan and all or are they drilling out the rivets and installing the urethane in it's place?

Instructions are on Stillen's website. Drill out the rivets and re-rivet the new one on.

Thanks. I checked awhile back and did not see them.

BlackIce ...You sure have been busy lately !.....Good luck on the the big day tomorrow. That's alot of stuff to take on at one time. Sounds like you are as busy as we were when we would do the final 48 hour thrash getting stuff ready for SEMA. I am impressed with the details you have both shared and put into on your project. It is going to be Outrageous.

Drive safe !

Thanks Daniel but can't seem to find it. Looked at several threads started by Atomic incuding Ford GT Rally II Image Depository (which has my RBD as well as Gulf GT's but both without the extended diffuser) and other posts by him but don't see it.

Can you kindly direct me?

canibal ,
do you find the rear of the car stays cleaner?
If You look at the race cars they all have longer diffusers .The reason from what I could gather was that ford thought the diffusers looked ugly and wanted to keep them as inconspicuous as possible .But for them to work they have to go to at least the end of the rear body work. The longer diffusers make sense to me . There function is exiting the air from under the car .I understand the balance issue but do not think that the comparison is accurate .The balance they refer to is the front spoiler and the gurney lip.

well....I wish I could say that but the rear of the car still gets a bit dusty but not as much it seems. I took the car to the track with the new diffuser and didn't notice any instability problems and the car just ate up the long straight away. I think, it's my opinion, that the Stillen rear diffuser will work better with a redesigned deeper front spoiler and side splitters...and maybe a new gurney lip as you mention. Stillen should be coming out with a solid one piece front splitter pretty soon....I guess

i forgot to say that with the new Stillen rear diffuser you have to be really, really careful when you drive because it is much easier to touch a speed bump or anything else. Good news is that it bends and the plastic doesn't rub away that much

Extended Diffusers

Just installed the Stillen extended diffusers yesterday. We'll see how well they work next week at Laguna Seca. Here's an image (I can't seem to be able to attach more than one image due to a quota).

Are the new Stillen diffusers a panel, as in FGT OEM or are they separate, requiring mod to the existing FGT panel? Oh, and what $'s?

It is not a complete panel. You drill out the rivets holding the stock diffusers to the metal pan and rivet in the replacements. Comes with rivets and instructions. I think it was around $300.00 for the pair.

Heh. Not me. I live in the SF Bay Area. To get that car I had to go to Hawaii. Apparently the Ford dealer in Honolulu had to get that Hawaiian inspection sticker put on the car. It was a bit of an ordeal to get the car over here, so when it arrived I decided to leave the inspection sticker on there as a reminder of where it came from and the effort involved! Makes for even more interesting conversation when people look at it. Maybe someday it will come off.

Conversation or not, that sticker would be off in ten minutes if it were mine. But hey, what ever sticks to you! I like the looks of the diffusers.
