Cool Tech would like to extend a special offers to those forum members electing to sign-up and attend Rally 9 in Las Vegas. Many of you know that we are members at Spring Mountain and we are fortunate enough to have a condo and a garage there. Of course, no garage is complete without a 4-post lift, so we have one of those too although admittedly the first priority was to turn our 4-car garage into a 5-car garage!! LOL. But, having a lift at Spring Mountain – and an increasing complete set of tools, affords us the opportunity to extend a couple of great opportunities to Rally attendees!

Heck-of-a-deal #1:

Ohlin Suspension Package by Ahlman Engineering– Holy Cow! We recently installed one of these set-ups on a forum member’s car. I have never, EVER been so impressed with the quality of a product. These shocks – and every single component that makes them up are like pieces of jewelry. I was so glad when our exhaust fabricator needed some more time – hence lengthening the amount of time we kept this forum member’s car. I wanted to SLEEP with these shocks!! OMG. OK, we’re all guys here (mostly), therefore we’re all PIGS and we tend to judge things superficially. As such, these shocks are the super model of all super models. Build quality simply oozes out of them. BUT, there’s more. They work. And BOY do they work. Why? Because these shocks, all of the components that make them up, the specific spring rates and valving were all done specifically for our GT’s. By Cool Tech? Hahaha, that would be a JOKE. By none other than Scott Ahlman. Who the hell is Scott Ahlman? He was just the lead engineer for the Ford GT Chassis Design/Vehicle Dynamics & Development. Scott developed this Ohlins-based suspension set-up for our GT’s and then he and Mark McGowan (Ford GT Vehicle Dynamics Supervisor) set out to test them and dial the entire set-up in. There has been other suspension packages available for our GT’s and those too have been good set-ups when “dialed-in”. However, some of these former high-end set-ups have been based on a pure race shock which is engineered to be rebuilt after every race. Not so on the Ohlin’s. This is a great, world-class, high-end shock developed for street use. Here’s a link to Ahlman’s web page.

I called up Scott a month or so ago and said let’s do something special for Rally attendees and he agreed. We started talking about his shocks – and despite I think I am an OK engineer, Scott is on a completely different planet when it comes to talking about how a suspension system works!!! He’s chatting away and the whole time I’m just thinking is that I’m not worthy!!

OK, so here’s the deal. You have from now until approx. mid-August to let me know if you’d like to have one of Scott’s set-ups. I’d recommend 2-way adjustable (set of 4) along with the HyperCo blue main springs. ($6280 complete.) You can keep your OEM shocks/springs fully assembled and store them away for safekeeping (along with your OEM gauges). The real DEAL is that Scott is going to personally install these on your car, set the proper ride height AND align the car for this new ride height. Ryan and I have promised to help hand Scott tools and maybe learn a thing or two in the process. Frankly it is hard for Scott and I to gauge the level of interest and we obviously will only have a finite amount of time available to do these installs. As the primary track/Spring Mountain day is Thursday, October 16, perhaps the ideal time to get this work performed is Wednesday evening or early Thursday morning. Anyway, we’ll work with you on the logistics. First persons to opt-in will have their first preference on install time – working primarily around Scott’s availability.

Reply to this thread and/or PM me and let’s see how many of these we can get installed before you head out onto the track!! (Note: These shocks have outstanding road manners – likely better that the OEM shocks you have now. Scott will advise you on recommended settings depending on your driving conditions. Both front and rear shocks are easily adjustable while on the car. The settings you may select for the track will likely be different than the comfy street settings that you would like.)

I can't tell you enough about how great Scott's shocks are - I had mine installed back in the summer of 2013. So did my buddy Jeff (PL510*Jeff)! Jeff got the 2-ways which is what Scott and Kendall are offering. I got the 4-ways -

Wow!

Of course, yours will be superior to mine as mine are defective.

Scott decided to remove the laser etching of "SA Ahlman" from the shock as he was concerned that the etching might weaken the product. Ha!! I wouldn't sell mine now for 3 times the price I paid!! They're unique!!

:thumbsup :thumbsup

I love mine - transformed the car from feeling old and tired and sloppy to a brand new machine. Mine probably are not even set up right. Can I make a reservation to have Scott review my install and make adjustments and do a track alignment? Thanks.

Andy, Glad they are working well. Understood on going over your install, adjustments and alignment. No problem. We (Kendall and me) will work with you to schedule the first slot.

Hey Ralphie, thank you much for the endorsement - a couple of clarifications. I hate to correct you, but the laser etching of my logo on your shocks is production and there is no concern. All production sets have the same logo. I originally had a set with a machined in logo that looked awesome, but was about 0.007" deep and only used on my prototype development set on McGowan's car.

Also, the 4-ways, like yours, are available as well for install at the Rally. I look forward to seeing you there!

Luv it, Scott!!

I guess I got the wrong info from McGowan - But I'd still never sell mine, anyway. I look forward to seeing you at the Rally.

Great product!!

NorCal
I drove one of my favorite NorCal roads yesterday. In the past hard breaking into this one 270 deg turn would always result in the front suspension bottoming & front wheels twitching from the bumps (bad pavement is part of CA!). Yesterday I did it with the Ahlman Ohlins; & even though, I hit the bump stops it was wasn't harsh & there was no unwanted lateral wheel movement. Very smooth & controllable. I can't say enough about the shocks & Scott's service.
