Ok Rally 9.5 is now over .We traveled thru 12 states and drove aprox 2,700 miles.I must say I was a bit weary on driving that distance due to lack of luggage space, fear of a flat and the presumed small gas tank, firm seats and poor mileage.Well now after my trip I can really pay homage to what a truly awesome car the GT is.
Luggage space is no problem with some creativity.Hopefully Mark will post some pictures loaded. It's really is amazing how much you can pack into the GT.We had no flats but we did pack a tire plug kit just in case.Next is the gas mileage and the clock. We cruised at 75-80 (1,800 RPM’S) and got about 25 miles per gallon! This car gets the best gas mileage of any car I own!Now as I learned from Mark. The gas gauge is also a clock! Yes really! Each 1/4 of a tank at 70-80mph equals 1hour or 70-80 miles per 1/4 of a tank.So we were able to travel 4 hours per tank.Of course the middle age bladder was a limiting factor! The seats for distance traveling are the most comfortable seats I ever traveled in.UNBELIEVEABLE REALLY!
We even found Dr Frank in St.Louis and he kindly took us around the construction to save us some time. Thanks Frank for joining us on R9.5 We traveled with Mark and Lynne all the way to Indianapolis. The valet guys at the Hyatt nearly dropped when they saw 2 GT’S pull in! We broke up at that point. It was a hard break up for all of us but we are dealing with it! We could not have had a better time than we did with 2 such wonderful friends. We laughed and had such fun. The only incident we had was when a SUV pulling a motorhome right in front of us started to wag and wag until it flipped over causing the the SUV to flip as well. Mark was a bit a head of us as I was screaming into my cell phone that there was a bad accident and we were running over to assist.Luckily the couple and their dog were alright.Mandys ER experience shinned thru with assiting the couple till the ambulance came.Mean while I was flagging people away from the lane to prevent any further accidents. The truck driver next to me gets hero of the day for his excellent accident avoidance abilites. The only other misfortune was I got a fricken ticket in Albany NY 82 in a 65 I was bullshit. The dickhead cop asked if I was on ampehdimines! I told him I was naturally high on life!Than he asked me to look into his flashlight.I only had 150 miles to go of a 968mile trip from Indy.Took us 14.5 hours.Glad to be home!
We are already looking forward to R10!
Mandy and I are going to drive to and from R10.
