OK OK My vote goes to Newfoundland.

It's only slightly further than Miami from Seattle. :ack

Besides we'd all get a ferry ride out of the deal.:rofl

I really doubt it will be FL, but I would love that. NC is really nice in late October.

FL can be a big weather question before it gets cold (65 is cold in FL) and by then it's the holiday season. Just before or just after Halloween would be the only real option, that or spring. There is almost always a drought in FL for spring.

Other than that, FL shounds good to me, but please no S. Beach. Takes an hour to go a mile, no where to park, no where to pee.... Las Olas and a beach cruz would be cool. Can probably get reserved parking at beach place for a night.

I'd suggest the Diplomat, Hard Rock Casino or Breakers.

If we do it in FL I'll bring my Veyron :cheers

Hey B, As stated in the main post " I would hold the event in Late October early November, This is the end of the Hurricane season and the start of the dry season. "

If the rally is here I get the first ride in the Veyron !! :biggrin

Anywhere in the East is good for me. If we want to run "The Mile" like we did in Texas this really limits options. I am not aware of a Mile strip near VIR or The Glenn (both great tracks).

Homestead is a great track, every bit as good a GT track as TWS. Facilities are better at homestead as is the pavement.

Sorry storm, I didn't see that part.

I can't read more than a paragraph at a time.

I can't even type more than one sentence at time.

If you've ever noticed!

Guys I agree , but you are missing the main point about a Miami venue. There are many great race tracks in this country and I hope to see them all, Road America could be added to the list.

But there are only a few locations that also have a airstrip in the same area. I think that many of the guys had as much fun or more fun at the Texas mile than the road course. There are many guys who have never Driven their GT's to the 200 MPH mark. I think deep inside everyone wants to do it once. I know I did and the Miami Air strip is the place to do it. So the real question is " Is there more desire to go fast in a straight line or around the curves at a road course". You can do both here...:biggrin

I hear Chip and I concur that Dave needs a rest !! The only reason I made the post was because I had a lot of time to think on my drive back and I wanted to post my thoughts while they were fresh in my mind.

My favorite thing about Texas, after all the great folks, was being able to do the Mile and the Road course.

Driven both tracks, they are pretty good. Neither is a WGI, Laguna, sebring, Mid O, or VIR, but they are still fun (as is just about any track is to me....). The problem with tracks like Mid O, VIR and especially WGI, is there is nothing there, but a run of the mill days inn for accommodations. For many (not me) the hotel is a crucial part of the experience, and cover parking is nice as well.

I like the idea of FL

Having the runway would be a great tie in.

Like the idea of heading down the Keys for the drive.

So can you imagine, 75 GT's rolling down Ocean in south beach?

I'm surprised more of you crooks aren't willing to sell your votes.

Special Ed, can't we just swap tires/wheels at the track, so you can drive in the rain?

Lot's of GT drivers have never hit 200, and lot's have never driven in the rain. Maybe we can give them both. Imagine driving 200 MPH IN the rain, now that's exciting!

Seriously, FL would be great.

Key West is a long long long drive. 4-5 hours each way, full of traffic and no where to pass. A lunch somewhere on one of the other islands would be a better bet. Or, we can stuff a bunch of people on a 65' yacht and go to the bahamas for a day.

Brian:

Super Analysis.

If Miama area is final decision, and some would like to venture across alligator alley to the Collier Museum in Naples would assist in any way possible to make that happen. The last time I was there a few years ago, a race prepared GT 40 was on display. The alley is condusive to high speed driving. Generally, the Florida Highway Patrol works the alley with cars and an airplane.
