Pulley change and boost problems...

how much boost did you make ON THE DYNO ?

We are wondering how much boost you guys are seeing after a pulley swap? Some dynos arent measuring boost and you CANT go by the in car gauge.. we are only seeing 14lbs, so were sure the belt is slipping. Thanks...

That is as far as the gauge will read. It's inferred from the PCM / sensor data and not 100% accurate as a mechanical gauge would be.

I have a new pully and I have belt "chirp". Does it go away or is more adjustment needed?

My belt chirped when the engine was cold. After a 10 or 15 mile warm-up it went away. The chirp dissapeared altogether after about a month.

Same on mine after smaller pully & tune.

No "chirping" heard on mine.

Runs strong.

One thing to consider is this:

"Even with the 2.7 pulley the stock tensioner is in the lower side of the safe range, but still in the safe range. The tensioner has about 3/4" range that it can be in and still have the proper tension on it."

If it isn't in this safe range, you will NOT get full boost.

We are wondering how much boost you guys are seeing after a pulley swap? Some dynos arent measuring boost and you CANT go by the in car gauge.. we are only seeing 14lbs, so were sure the belt is slipping. Thanks...

Range Question

Dave, can you see the tensioner range markings with the engine installed in the GT engine bay?

Did you or your tuner check this when you had your pulley changed out?

Well I found a way to make sure mine doesn't slip EVER :)

Actually I had to go with a bigger belt to solve the problem :rofl :banana

If you still have both superchargers uninstalled, may I ask a favor, can you weight both of them?

What size pulley are you using and what boost levels are you seeing? Did you get a custom tune locally, or use the Whipple tune on a Diablo?

19# PULLEY. Didn't have a way to measure boost level. Tune was done custom with the SCT programmer by our local guy.

If you in Cali I would take it to Jack at Muscle Motors. I bought everything through there and they are great guys to deal with.

Keep the Whipples coming. The best engine upgrade ever offered for any car. How much money would you have to spend to get 200 more hp on a stock block engine, with 91 octane from a Euro exotic? Probably would necessitate an engine rebuild and not possible at all without some kind of forced induction. 50 to 100 grand.

I was glad to hear from a real knowledgeable observer that the GT was a supercar failure. I didn't know before I read the review..

Matt,
That sounds grand!!!
How does she perform now out on the street?? The Whipple site says "less noise". I was hoping for more hauling like the Mustang Cobra's.
Why not go for the 21 or even the 23PSI pulley - what is the max boost this motor will take??

What was the total cost including blower, pulley, belt, tune and all??

Thanks
Jason

Anyone here contact autometer for a boost gauge for these cars? Maybe a custom one to like 30 psi? We are getting ready for the whipple and going for 23 psi. But Im going to have to put a inline gauge to make sure Im getting the boost Im suppost to have.

I'm close to having a factory looking boost gauge that reads up to 30 psi. Please be patient as I've been working on this Since mid Jan. Were getting REAL close.
