So I was on the highway in my black GT doing xx mph, maybe 1 or 2 mph over the limit :wink

All of a sudden I see Five 0 in my rear window w lights on

So I change lanes to get out of his way, turns out he wants me

So I pull over & stop shut down

He walks up & I give him license & reg

He goes back to his car & checks

Comes back gives me my papers

Then he says to me "I can appreciate hauling Ass but make sure theres not a Cop a few cars back, I have a Shelby xxxxx"

Lets me go w no ticket.

I thanked him & was on my way

There are some cool Cops out there :thumbsup

but really, just a mile or two? I got stopped when going under by about 5 but he wanted to see the car. I was in traffic and focused on the shortest way and time home before the hail from the thunderstorm looming. He thought it was a nice car, I was not amused.

There are a few cool cops. I've been fortunate to have met some of them. The majority are not cool.

I too got pulled over. He asked me to get out of the car and proceeded to tell me all about how he worked at a Ford dealership before becoming a police officer and how he saw the FGT at the dealer and his thoughts. He asked me about the twin turbo and I did my best to explain the difference between the supercharger and turbo an benefits of both. We talked for a good 20 minutes on the side of the road. I thought we were fast becoming friends until he said he was writing me a ticket and he would be right back. My fault for speeding. I am good at learning my lesson the first time. Oh well.

I would be really pissed if an officer wasted 20 minutes of my time talking about the car, and gave a ticket. If speeding and a justified ticket, ok I guess, but don't be my friend, and waste my time, only to get the ticket.

A few years back I got pulled over in Miami Beach in my chopped Straman Ferrari 512M on a glorious FL day

Cop asks if I know why he pulled me over

I said " Bcus you wanted to tell me to have a wonderful day"

He just about fell over laughing

Checked my papers & told me to "get out of here " LOL

Oh I got pulled over by a tire-kicking cop last summer and he and his partner were arguing over whether it was a Mustang GT or Furarri. I was pissed because they simply wasted my time. There was no intent to write a ticket, just to see which one of them was right. We were already late for the party...

It may have been 10 mph or some other figure :wink

I got pulled over once in my Countach for a Cop who wanted to see the car, guess he was bored. No foul

Funniest one was in my F40 at night, it shoots out fireballs when I shift. I was on ramp merging into traffic at night so I couldnt see him

Of course I punch it when I merge to get out of the way

The F40 had race #s & sticker on it. His lights come on, I pull over

He comes up, this is right after the Miami Grand Prix, and he says

"This is NOT the Miami Grand Prix" :lol

He was a bit PO'd but I calmed him down & he only gave me a tik for careless driving

He was thinking about taking me in but didn't want to deal w my GF having a break down all over him :lol

LEOs suck in inverse proportion to general population suck. Trying to be kind, I'd say that the general population is 70:30 cool:suck. You don't know most people are cool, because they are cool about it. You know the minority who suck because they make it obvious.

On the other hand, most LEOs suck. Because they make it obvious they suck. They mostly overplay their authority. So...if they stop you to admire your car, or to discuss whatever they want to chew over besides tobacco...they are abusing authority, and very few things suck worse than that.

Therefore, if you are an LEO here, you may not suck, but you have a LOT OF REPARATIONS DUE for all your brethren who truly suck.

The local sheriff's office is contracted to be our local police and when I asked they said that in the 25mph through town they give you 5 over ( as directed by the town board - it's all about revenue even though the streets "feel" like 30+ because they are 2 lane and wide - it's all about revenue). In normal roads the county said they give 10 depending on if it's a suspected DUI in which case no speed makes a difference over under sideways all they need is an excuse.

There's nothing statutory about speed being reckless, unless you have a local statute.

http://www.leg.state.fl.us/statutes...ing&URL=0300-0399/0316/Sections/0316.192.html

They tried it on Yasiel Puig recently for 40 over and it got thrown out.

When we got our Aston Martin DB9 in 2005, my wife was stopped twice on the same day so they could look at the car! It's a good thing she wasn't in a hurry.

Any truth to FL crushing cars used in street races ?

I keep my racing on the track but a Cop could always accuse one of racing

Racing requires a minimum of two cars. Police can accuse you of anything. How does racing get proved if yours is the only car?

You know, people get falsely convicted all the time, but if you're not black in Florida the risk is miniscule. If you are black and falsely convicted, you'll get out in 30 years.
