Seat grommets
Wow--53,000 miles Someone enjoyed it. (I assume the hot buttons were added)
The seat grommets of the GTX1 were silver originally.
When I had Sparco make the seats, I specified a grey French seam and the grommets painted silver before they were fit to the seats.
So, these were painted and not aluminum.
Now, here's the REAL story on the prototype seats...
When I was taking them in my truck to Wisconsin, I stopped for the night, checked into a motel and carried the crates into my room.
The next morning, I loaded the crates back into the truck, strapped them down and took off down the highway.
So, here I am cruising along at about 70mph and I look in the rear view mirror and I see one of the boxes start to float up real slowly (the cardboard crushed a bit, and the strap got loose) and then drop to the pavement! I'm looking into the rear view mirror screaming, as I realize the box landed perfectly level and is sliding to a stop from 70mph.....
I pull to the side of the road, back up and open the box. The seat was PERFECT, save for a minor scrape on the seat track!!!
(as a side note, the three Centennial cars had grommet inserts that were machined aluminum)
