Does this mean that Torries engine is seeing the standard SC boost plus whatever the TT's are making so now the engine is stressed 100% more than with just TT's, or do the two adders simply support each other and the max boost is still not higher than with one power adder??.
I'm confused :confused
His engine is seeing only 18psi total, the blower basically artificially increases the displacement of engine causing the turbos to spool-up faster without the lose of top end power. Once the turbos come on the blower is just passing air through it unless you connect the pressure feed lines to the turbo housings or before the blower, then the blower will multiply the boost.

The supercharger is boosting or compressing the air that enters it's inlet, and is generally fixed by pulley size, unit capability, and rpm.

If the turbos were not hooked to the sc, than atmospheric air pressure (around 14.6 psi, depending on the altitude) would be increased to whatever the sc's capability is, say 11 psi more. If the turbos were attached and producing 10 lbs of boost, then the total boost that the engine would see would be around 21 psi + atmospheric pressure. The boost pressure that is measured generally does not include atmospheric pressure.

In Torries setup, as well as most turbo vehicles, the waste gate valve opens and dumps exhaust pressure before it gets to the turbo, to control the speed of the turbo, and its ability to compress air.

Glad to hear.. I was getting a bit worried with all this talk of 28lbs pressure...:eek

BTW: What could be the gain of a pulley or 3.3 Whipple??
You would just have to turn down the turbos I if you make the standard SC work harder (and have more power loss from reving it faster)
And is it even possible to use more torque gained from the Whipple?? - I smell burning rubber already :biggrin

Now for complex, a better way to hook up a twin charger system, is to have the blower run off of a CVT transmission so that at low RPM the blower turns at a higher ratio, boosting the air pressure from inlet to outlet, but as RPMs rise and the turbos take over, to lower the ratio so at some point the blower is just moving air but not compressing it. A roots blower would be better for this, since it doesn't have any internal compression, but just moves air. With a screw blower you will lose some efficiency. How you would package this in a GT I have no idea. That's way a lot of theoretical stuff stays in the labs.

LOL You guys crack me up!!!

BTW I want to clarify that we are using Race gas for all Dyno testing and NOT taking any chances with Torrie's Gal and have never told ANYONE to run thier Gal at close to 1000hp on Pump Gas.....Does that qualify as a disclaimer? LOL

BTW I saw a Polished Whipple sitting on a Twin Turbo'd Ford GT today.. LOL

Was just mocking it up for the moment but Damnnnn it looks purty..............

Yeah get a camera crack pot at least let me see this stuff first hand so I don't have to read about new progress on the board first. :wink

And no those mysterious gates you speak of aren't keeping me away. Some of us have to travel around FL and work :lol:lol:lol

By the dyno graph Torrie is running almost 18psi of boost. Torrie's car as a Greddy Pro-fec B boost controller in the car, so he can adjust the boost as low as the blower or as high as he wants depending on what octane fuel he's running.:thumbsup

Well that sounds perfect then, thanks.

The final pieces are slowly coming together. Got back the painted piping that connects the turbos to the blower now in black. It will mesh a little better when the black valve covers go on !!

It looks like a Heffner system grafted to the blower. Who's car is it?

He's not on here, but it's a New York car. The NY 205mph highway video car. Ray's TT car at one point had the blower on as well before the C&D thing, but I wasn't aware this blue car ended up keeping it on.

So its already been done on an FGT? What were the results on these cars?

Last time I saw so many black out on a video it was a porno.
This is pure FGT bliss, obviously on a closed road course.
