We know that there are about 3600 GTs still left, top speed 212. How many production cars in the world have a top speed of over 200?

I suppose we'd have to add up all Veyron, Zonda, ZR1,Carrera GTs, and certain Ferrari and Lambo models.

I think the total number would be under 15,000 vehicles, maybe under 10.

What do you think?

I think your numbers are off. Theres gonna be more than that. The 722 SLR does 217 mph, The SLR ROADSTER 722 does 208 mph, The Regular SLR does 207.

I know Shelby there are more types of cars than those listed so far, but all were produced in very small numbers, some under 100 vehicles per year of production.

Once we produce a list of the production vehicles with 200+mph top speed, I'll look up their production numbers in my spare time.

That said, you are probably right about my first estimate being low, total productionof the SLR for example was around 3500 vehicles.

I agree with Fast Freddy...the Z06 should be included, even though it's "officially" rated at 198 mph. Also, the SL65 Black Series is governed to 199 mph. They built 175 of them for the USA, and 175 for the rest of the world.

Over 400 have been totalled and are unrepairable? Seems unlikely.

One a week RIP rate.

Over 400 have been totalled and are unrepairable? Seems unlikely.

Gentlemen,

I am pretty sure that over 10% (400+) Ford GT's are history. There are a number of salvage GT's but there probably won't be too many more because the cost of repair parts has gone through the roof. It costs way more to repair a hard hit GT than the repaired car will be worth so they are getting scrapped and parted out. No stability control + No traction control + 550+HP + mid-rear engine = Very high attrition rate.

I completely agree. Most guys here think that when a GT is wrecked it goes to GT Heaven.:bs It would have to be one helluva wreck.:eek It may end up with a salvage title, or not. Point is that these cars are being repaired...the question isn't so much the quality of repair just that it is. I wonder just how many are forever off the road and/or used for parts. I say very few. When talking about repairs, you would have to break it into several categories at the very minimum. Just a few.. 1. Cars with dealer or pre-delivery paintwork (cosmetic) 2. Cosmetic paintwork done with no insurance involved (ie not on a CarFax)...fender or door repainted due to small ding, scratch repair etc 3. Minor collision repair, no structure damage but paid for w/o insurance claim (ie no CarFax). 4. Major collision repair but not on CarFax 5. Minor collision reported to CarFax 6. Major collision reported to CarFax

Then take all the salvage title cars and categorize them according to degree of damage.

But don't misunderstand....I'm for everybody wrecking /totalling the heck out of them. Fewer existing the better.

All I know is that of the four Ford GTs in my town, one has been totalled. It's hard to repair a car with a bent frame and no more in existence.

Anyway, that thread already exists from over a year ago, look it up. This is purely a thread on the estimated number of production cars capable of 200+mph by the manufacturer. 198 does not count.

I think if hundreds of cars had been totalled, there would be a continuous flow of wheels, engines, tranny's, brakes, lights, seats, instruments, body panels, etc. on ebay, and I have just not seen anything like that, in fact, it's rare to see any significant parts at all.

I completely agree with Centerpunch. Where are all the cars being parted? How much are the parts?

Again....."totalled".....as far as insurance yes. Whether or not new frames are available it would depend on the extent of frame damage. I am quite sure there are people out there "straightening" bent frames. I am not agreeing with it....especially if not disclosed....but I am sure it happens. Totalled does not mean forever off the road. It might should,,....but it doesn't.

The car from here was parted out.

Alex in Moscow bought a wrecked one last month for spare parts.

It's happening.

I see lots of GTs damaged beyond repair however I never come across the parts of them. I personally have sold at least 5 or 6 people replacement GTs to replace the cars they damaged past repair, that wrecked their car past the point of no return, yet I never saw the wreckage show up for sale. There is more behind the scenes than one would think. But as joehand said, there's another thread for this...
Back on topic! :)
