I just trailered my Heritage home yesterday; I still can't believe it's in my garage. I am having difficulty with the lid latching tightly. Prior to loading my GT, we had to charge the battery. I just wonder if in removing the trunk tray (My F-350's center console is bigger, no joking) that I have caused an alignment problem. The nearest dealer I trust is 70 miles so any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hi mccarter1369,

I had the same problem when I first got my GT. The dealer replaced the battery since the car had sat on the showroom floor for over six months. When they replaced the battery they did not replace all four of the hold down thumb-screw type clips, and the center one was not screwed in completely. I suggest you check the four thumb-screw type clips that hold the cover in place. If they are not screwed in tight, they will allow the cover to stick up just a little bit and that small amount causes the the hood not to latch easily. Remember that the cover has a rubber seal around its edge and that creates a weather tight seal with the hood. It is designed to have some resistance with the fiberglass hood, but not so much as you should have to "over slam" the hood. At least this was the problem with mine. Hope this helps.

Roger,
Thanks, your description is my problem. I am concerned my clips have been damaged and will acquire new ones.

Also check that the lip of the trunk liner isnt pinched over the windshield wiper fluid hose.. its right in front of the drivers STEERING wheel side, sometimes the little black fluid line gets under the lip, making the corner rise, thus slaming the hood. Yes if you keep twisting those clips, either the pastic breaks on the tip or they wont hold, no big deal , just get new ones. Also DONT USE A REGULAR CHARGER AS THOSE OPTIMA BATTERYS THEY CAN GO KABOOM VERY FAST. DBK WE SHOULD HAVE A POST ON JUST THE BATTERY, WHATS THE BEST NON OPTIMA , SO WE DONT HAVE THESE LITTLE PROBLEMS?. They do last foever if you use them every day,but most use for sunday drive, this battery is very, very troublesome then, p.s. the bentley had the same, we switched to delco, which who care anyway, old fashion battery acid and noooo problems. :thumbsup gtjoey hope this helps. HEY GOOD LUCK THE CAR IS THE GREATEST EVER.............. :thumbsup

I had problems with both the front trunk and rear clamshell closing on day towo of ownership. On mine both latches needed ajustment. In the rear the two receivers were loose and just required tightening. In the front I had to remove the storage tray and adjust the receiver,(cannot remember up or down). Since then the left side intake became loose while on the way to Detroit. Good thing I brought some tools!! Since then I check for loose bolts periodically. I suspect the same person was responsable for tightening these at Salleen!!

Close the truck properly.....

Make sure you are aware where the trunk striker/latch is located. You should be closing making sure you hand pressure is directly over the striker.

replacement battery

Guys, the military spec batteries made by Odyssey are killer and provide a three year shelf life. They provide stronger start capacity, are no spill and can be mounted in any position. I am looking to see if weight can be saved with this battery. Has anyone considered this?

Not totally condeming it , its just that on the bentley the same keeps happening, if the car sits its constantly on the charger, if you run the car to death it runs forever. I have just noticed that a conventional battery tends to be more stable for a better word.. p.s. put the sears diehard ,2 batteries by the way in the bentley , like the old commercial says, it just keeps on going. p.s again, 89 dollars each to 250 each and no electric bill, no flicky lights, map lights that flicker ect......gtjoey 1314 :thumbsup
