Someone got the seller's eBay password and cancelled all this bids without his knowledge. This person that got his password is trying to scam the bidders by sending an offer for a bogus unit that does not exist. He has changed his password and is talking to eBay.

I figured it out for the seller. He and I have been emailing all morning long about it. It's back up because people are bidding on it again.

It looks like the crook that got his eBay password, lowered the reserve. I would bid like nothing happened. Decide what your willing to pay and go for it. There is nothing wrong with the item, just got a crook in the works briefly, but since his password has been changed, the crook can't access the system to do anything again.

You do need to be careful on ebay, but usually stuff is pretty obvious when it is a scam. Always watch for some quick payment deal to get a good price, and definitely NEVER do Western Union (even ebay will tell you that - they walk in a fake ID, pick up your cash, and they are gone). If your money is going to Russia, Pakistan, Africa, etc, think twice if it is any signficant amount. There are ways to get a better feeling if it is OK.

I had it happen when a one of a kind and serial numbered item I underbid (it sold and I know who bought it) came up for sale about two months later again. The kind seller would take 2K for it - that was a great deal since I had bid 15K on it the first time :bs

Great info. Most of know there are only supposed to be 7 of these caps. How do you think the scammer got the original seller (who according to Rich-The Gt Tech) is supposed to have a real cap?

One of the reasons that Ebay went to the hidden bidder system was because the scammers were sending second chance offers to the bidders that didn't win.

I sold a bronco on ebay and a week later one of the bidders emailed me wanting to know if they could pick up the truck because they saw I didn't sell it. Notified him it was a scam and that the truck was indeed gone.

If someone wants your password for just about anything, they can get it if they have the experience. Most people don't really use a truly random password like they should, and crooks know this. That's what makes it so easy to do. SS#'s, birthdays backwards, etc. are common passwords. Give an expert 15-30 minutes with a little bit of your personal information and they can crack it. Pick passwords that are completely random. I don't care what combination of your information, your kid's, parent's, uncle's, cat's information you come up with, someone will hack it.

Fuel Door Update

Just got off the phone with the seller of the fuel door. Someone DID hack his password. He's been in contact with E-bay, and they are working on it. They may have even hacked his Pay-Pal account. He's still working on that issue.

He's decided to pull the auction and re-list it in two or three days, when things get sorted out.

He is VERY sorry to have to do it, but I think you will all agree, it's the smart move. I've known Jon for a long time, and he is a stand up guy. He is in no way trying to pull a fast one or anything like that.

Thanks Guys
Rich
