As of this morning I have now retired my hand wraps too. I just threw 500 punches in five 2 minute rounds with no wraps on the heavy bag. 250 punches with the 16 ounce gloves and 250 punches with the 12 ounce gloves. The loss in weight brought my punch count back up. Half my punches were hooks and the other half were a combo of jabs, crosses and overhands. Again I throw half my punches from a southpaw stance and half from a orthodox stance. Even though I am left handed I am more of an ambidextrous puncher than the "southpaw" Marvin Hagler ever was. Sonny Liston was a real left handed fighter who fought from a orthodox stance and this is why his jab was so menacing. Bruce lee was a right handed fighter who preferred a southpaw stance
Just wanted to give you guys a heads up if you are gonna bet on the Mike Tyson - Jake Paul fight on November 15th. If the fight ends in a draw like the Mike Tyson - Roy Jones Jr. Fight did in November of 2020 the casino takes all the betters money. Since that fight was just an exhibition fight only and ended in a draw I believe it was rigged.
Not sure if the Jake Paul fight is gonna be considered exhibition or not? But just know this... the boxing rules of these last two Tyson fights are designed to protect him from his old age. The rounds are only 2 minutes long instead of 3 and in the Roy Jones fight the boxing commission mandated the fighters use 12 ounce gloves. For the Jake Paul fight the fighters have to use 14 ounce gloves!!!
Most all of Mike Tyson's pro fights were fought with 10 ounce gloves and he used 8 ounce gloves in his prime. Hand wraps add another 4 ounces of weight. Heavyweight fighters by far most only use 16 ounce gloves for sparring and the heavybag. 16 ounce gloves are built and shaped differently than the lighter gloves as they are designed to hit the heavybag whereas 8-12 ounce gloves are made to hit people.
