So you fly for the Blue Angels, get shot out of cannons, go diving for sharks without any protective gear, and hit yourself with a Tazer gun on max voltage for kicks. But life still seems to have lost its excitement? I may have the cure.
CSX3305 is an original, honest-to-goodness, built by Shelby American in 1966, real deal 427 Cobra. Better yet, it is a late production 33xx serial number car, within 55 cars of the last real 427 Cobra ever built. It has an unblemished, air-tight history as chronicled in the Shelby American World Registry. And it is drop-dead gorgeous, meanacing one might say, in its sinister black paint with black sidepipes and beefy Goodyear competition tires. But 3305 has a secret. Under the hood is no garden variety 427 motor. It is a genuine Holman and Moody Ford 427 SOHC "Cammer" motor sourced from Holman and Moody way back when just for this car.
For those of you unfamiliar with the SOHC "Cammer" powerplants, these are a lock the door, the world is coming to an end, hide the women and children, spin the earth on its axis, high-rpm, take no prisoners big Big BIG HP package. Estimates average around 700HP for a good running Cammer, and they are capable of insanely high rpm - a perfect compliment to the lightweight Cobra. Now just think about that: a solid 600-700 HP in a 2200 pound sports car. If that doesn't put some spring back in your step, trade in that Tazer for something a little more potent.
CSX3305 retains its original body panels, chassis, interior, and was originally sold at the legendary High Performance Motors in California, Carroll Shelby and Lew Spencer's dealership.
With its professionally installed Cammer engine tuned to perfection, it is an entirely tractable and pleasant car to drive. That is, until you hammer that pedal on the right - then you are in for a really wild ride.
CSX3305 is not for the purist, it is for the Shelby guy who has had everything and wants something a little different. A little wild. And very capable of making every Ford guy on earth drool when you pop the hood or run it up through the gears to 7,000 rpm. That is not to say that if you ever become bored with all the attention and power that you couldn't plop in a correct 427 side oiler and put the Cammer on display in your living room.
But my guess is if you drive this car once, you will be hooked for life.

FWIW, there was a local Shelby club member who had a 427 SOHC dropped into a late '50's Ford pickup (shoehorned would be a better term for the application) and it was just stunning.
