F series has been #1 in Canada for over 40 years and definately gets a :thumbsup from me.

Its a hybrid engine that uses a combination of combustion and hydraulics.

Well, before I purchased my truck, I test drove all of them - and I am not a brand loyal kinda guy. My criteria was simple;

Quad
Towing
Load
4X4
Accelaration
No Turbo lag Diesel
Comfort
Interior styling
Exterior Styling
Resale

The 2008 3/4 ton Silverado Diesel/Allison 4X4 won in every department with the exception of Interior/Exterion styling. Not to mention that at $57K MSRP, I purchased this beast at $44K which included Incentives, $1K Below Invoice, Dealers Coupons, Marketing $ etc.. A bargain if you ask me. BTW, I took a bath on my 2006 F-150

What I subsequently found out is that the number of after market accessories for Ford Diesel 4X4 is huge.

Soon enough might be too late. I am a FORD guy. Most of my vehicles are Ford. I own a 99 Ford F350 Dually, and just purchased a 2008 F350 (in May) both diesels. My 99 has always (and still) has given me at least 12 MPG while towing my 24ft box. The 2008 cannot get past 6.9 MPG. I really love the new truck, but what's up with this fuel mileage? A friend just got back from SEMA with a 2 car trailer, and he averaged less than 5 MPG, and with 38 gal capacity you need to stop every 2 hours or so. Ford keep's saying that the MPG will get better, even thought I know someone with 25K miles on their 2008, and no end in sight of the poor mileage. Like I said, I do love the new truck, just cant believe the poor mileage. Anyone have a 2008 diesel and experiencing the same ? At this rate, it might be cheaper to ship a car to the next event...................

No your right its a little late but atleast its something new for the industry. Ford was the first company to put an electric hybrid on the market and if their plans stay steady they will be the first company to put this technology on the market.

I have an '08 F350 4x4 diesel with 9500 miles and get 18mpg hwy, 14mpg combined hwy city and 10+mpg pulling 7000lbs, 20' box with car.

Had my 30' gooseneck with 180 bales on last month which totalled about 12,000lbs and still got about 8mpg.

Did your friend have a few mountain passes to go through? That would kick the s**t out of the numbers in a hurry.

man I thought the 10 I got out of the land cruiser was bad. but then again without a trailer it only gets 16.

someone at sema told me it was due to the regen filter that is on the new trucks and that someone at sema was making a kit to remove that stuff.

that should help mileage.
