Schedule of Events, Times, Addresses
Gentlemen,
There are 3 official events at this gathering and for those arriving early a couple more activities are possible. Most out of town attendees are staying at Mountain Shadows (5445 E. Lincoln Dr., Paradise Valley, AZ 85253) in Paradise Valley so I'm going to suggest the bar at that hotel as a gathering spot on Saturday night. Earlier on Saturday there's a really cool weekly car show at the Pavilions (9140 E. Talking Stick Way, Scottsdale, AZ 85250) in Scottsdale that starts at about 5 PM. It's the largest weekly car show in the world and there's always a bunch of interesting iron to look at. This time of year it shuts down at about 8 PM which is a good time to head back to the bar at Mountain Shadows. If a car show isn't your cup of tea El Charro (5550 E. Lincoln Dr., Paradise Valley, AZ 85253) in Paradise Valley is a fabulous restaurant for dinner located right next to Mountain Shadows. Years ago I used to hold our annual Barrett Jackson dinner there.
1. On Sunday show up at Beck's Landing (10335 N. 128th St., Scottsdale, AZ 85259) at 4 PM and if you've got one, bring your GT. My home is about 25 or 30 minutes from Mountain Shadows unless your Chris Wheeler who can probably make it there in about 10 minutes. If you are not driving a GT just hand your keys to the valet parking staff (who have been instructed not to accept gratuities) and head inside. You'll be able to figure it out from there. If you are driving a GT you will be guided to the proper placed to self park. The parking staff will be outside all night and your car will be on site and secure. No one will need to park on the street. Once inside have the bartender mix up the cocktail of your choice (Chris makes a fabulous Makers Mark Manhattan) and enjoy the music of Thano Sahnas. The catering staff will start serving dinner at 5 PM. A couple of VIP guests should make for some interesting conversation. I am thrilled that so many out-of-town GT Forum members have made this journey and shipped their cars to Arizona in order to spend a couple days with good friends and fellow enthusiasts. It wasn't easy or cheap for a lot of you to get here from across the country and I sincerely appreciate your coming.
2. On Monday morning we are meeting in Fountain Hills in an open parking lot next to Discount Tire, 16745 E. Shea Blvd., Fountain Hills, AZ 85268 at 9 AM for a Road Rally to Payson. Members will see world-famous Rim Liquor and enjoy lunch on our reserved private patio at Fargo's Steakhouse (620 SR-260, Payson, AZ 85541). We will have a private parking lot at the restaurant and a few reserved spots at my store which is next to Fargo's. The drive to Payson will take approximately one hour and 10 minutes. Lunch will be at 11. After lunch we'll reverse course and head back to Scottsdale. We should be back in Scottsdale by 1:30.
3. At 3:30 PM we will gather at the OTTO Car Club, 15550 N. 78th Street, Scottsdale, AZ 85260, which will be the staging location for our 35 Ferrari/35 Ford GT parade to to the Cine Capri theater in North Scottsdale. Members will have time for a tour of OTTO, a $10 million dollar members only car club that is most impressive. Everyone must be in their cars, fired up and ready to roll at 4:30 sharp. News media will be recording this event and we will not delay our start if you're reading a magazine in the men's room so be ready to go! We will arrive at the theater at 5 PM and security will be on hand to watch over the cars. You will need to check in with your name and your passengers which must match the list I have given to 20th Century Fox. Our private premier of Ford v Ferrari will start at 6 PM. The movie will last 2 1/2 hours and perhaps a late dinner afterwards at a restaurant yet to be decided may be in order.
It's going to be a great two days. Map Quest the locations so you'll know how much time it will take you to get there. If you have a question or problem call me at (602) 430-4877. All the best and welcome to Arizona!!
