Round 9 of the 2009 FIA GT3 European Championship was suspended after several accidents occurred on lap 4 of the 60-minute race at Paul Ricard HTTT when rain fell on the exit of Turn 7, while the cars were on slick tyres. The race had been declared wet before the cars left the pits for the grid.

The incidents involved several cars losing traction or spinning trying to avoid debris on the track. The cars involved were the #56 CRS Racing Ferrari 430 Scuderia of Phil Quaife, #26 Phoenix Racing Audi R8 LMS of Christopher Mies, #5 Callaway Competition Corvette Z06R of Arnaud Peyroles, #29 Fischer Racing Ford GT of Marc Grindorf, #31 Reiter Engineering Lamborghini Gallardo GT3 of Albert von Thurn und Taxis and #3 Hexis Racing AMR Aston Martin DBRS9 of Thomas Accary. The race was immediately suspended by showing the red flags, with circuit marshals and other emergency staff promptly on the scene within 90 seconds. The race was then called off by the Race Director, with the remaining cars returning to Parc Ferme.

GT1 - Round 7

In the GT1 Race (Round 7) the Ford GT's finished 8th and 14th. The Ford GT entries are built to the 2010 specifications, but are allowed to race in the 2009 series even though handicapped.

"Thomas Mutsch and Walter Salles scored their first win of the 2009 season as the #1 Matech GT Racing Ford GT came through from 17th on the grid to take the chequered flag in Round 10 of the FIA GT3 European Championship. Mutsch made up fourteen places before handing the Ford to Salles, who was looking comfortable behind the #24 Alpina BMW Alpina B6 GT3 of Csaba Walter for second when the Hungarian’s car suffered a puncture three laps from the flag."

Thanks Ralphie for the updates. And THE WIN for Matech!!!!!!

Loved the 2nd photo in post #3. Driving with the door opened!

Last time I saw anything like that was at Daytona , 2006 24 Rolex I believe, when it rained from 8 P.M. until 6:30 A.M. The race was under safety car control for 5 hours. The prototypes windshield electric defrosters all stopped working, due to shorting out, and the drivers lapped with their doors open and heads hanging out so they could see the race track. That was a tough thing to do at 70-100 mph.

wished TV had them

I love being able to watch these races on gt1live. I still wished TV had them, but getting used to the computer, with live timing on the second monitor.
