One would think with the ridiculous fees California charges us to drive our cars on the street for one year that the state budget would not be billions in the hole.....$1,270 for my GT this month. :ack
Please tell me, brother GT owners who are located elsewhere, that at least you don't get hosed like this...:frown

In Wisconsin we initially pay sales tax (5%) plus $75 registration and minimal processing fee. After that a $75 annual registration fee. On the down side we don't get to use these special cars 12 months of the year.

In Connecticut we pay property tax on cars. So take the assessed value, deduct 30% leaving 70%. Divide by 1,000 and then multiply by the mill rate for whatever town you are. My town is 29.00 per 1,000 assessed value.

My 1st year plates in AZ were $2400. 2nd year = $2000 3rd year = $1800 4th year = $1600 5th year $1400 6th year = $1200

Sales tax here is just under 10%

State income tax is 5%

AND.....Arizona has a record budget shortfall. State spending DOUBLED from 2003 to 2010 with Janet at the helm.

As soon as I get a window to liquidate my business and home......Texas here I come! :cheers

All cars registered prior to September 1, 2009 pay no more than $99.00, as long as the original buyer owns the car, if over three years old (thanks to Jesse Ventura). If you registered a new car for the first time after that date, the license renewals are based upon value and in the $1,000+ range for a GT or ZR1 type car, decreasing slightly each year for ten years. I pay $99.00/year for my 2006 GT, so far. It could drop as the car gets older.

This is going to top you all ....... :confused

My car was "$ 195000" when it reached danish shores when including purchase, modifications and shipping/insurance. You might think that that would be it then, but the fun had just begun .....

Release from "free harbour" a 10 % import toll ...... $ 19.500,-

Then regular VAT - 25 % on top ...... $ 53.625,-

So now, in my garage ... without registration ... a total of $ 268.125,-

Registration tax ... the one time fee for getting the car registrered is approx another $ 350.000,- (this number is for a 3 year old used car - had it been brand new, the price would have been much higher :rofl )

So when the car has turned the 600K mark, then a yearly road tax will be around $1200 ......

Isn´t it impressive that I still have the ability to laugh :wink:biggrin

Time to find out how to become a diplomat in Denmark. Status seems to work pretty well here in the US.

My guess would be wear & tear on the roads...or at least that would be their 'excuse'.

That level of gov't LARCENY is just flat out disgusting.

There is NO CAR ON THE PLANET I would pay that kind of money to own - including the FGT.

'Dead serious (on BOTH points).
