Now it seems I've got twins. I just bought Shelby's 21-delivery miles '05 yellow GT. Can't wait to get her in the garage in January! Thanks Shelby for brightening up my holiday! This makes the absolute perfect Christmas gift to myself! :lol

Here she is --

Awesome!! Very jealous!

Fantastic!

congrats!

'Guess there's no longer any concern about just getting a lump of coal in your stalking this year is there!

Congrats!

Thanks all - now I have a question, and please don't get pissy on me, as I bought this car not to drive, but as a piece of art only, along with some investment diversification, and with the sole intent of putting her on the block one day, maybe - LOL.

There are possibly some here who may think I'm an ass for doing this with a GT, but here's my question in any case --

The car will sit in a climate controlled environment for as long as I own her and will never see the light of day, much less a drive -

I would like to know what I'd need to do in order to make sure she doesn't rot from non-use. I know the tires won't be any good years down the road, but what do I need to do vis-a-vis, battery, fluids, prevent the gaskets from drying out etc? Does anyone have any experience with long term storage? I know the battery will eventually be useless but I don't think that will impact resale, so I can deal with that later on.

This is a 21.5 delivery miles car only, with more documentation than almost any other GT and is on MSO. I want to keep it that way until (if) I decide to part with it, hence the need for picture-perfect long term storage. I need to know what will impact the vehicle's state and how to avoid experiencing anything that would even slightly negatively impact it's value down the road.

Any help from those in the know would be greatly appreciated!

Suggest you contact a car musuem curator for professional direction in the matter.

Peterson in Los Angeles, LeMay in Tacoma, Henry Ford in Dearborn, etc.

btw the GT is a Beauty!!

Thank you!

The well maintained museum cars are operated regularly. The worst thing you can do is just let it sit. At least run the car in place monthly for at least a half hour and change the fluids yearly.

Congrats. Besides the great advice provided, make sure you get the tires off the floor as well.

Congrats! That is one perfect ride. Have you considered a car bubble for it? I have one for one of my cars and really like it.

I had heard that - but to be honest, I wanted to be able to look at her sitting on the ground. Are you suggesting this as a safeguard for the suspension?

I would do a bubble, but the car will be in my garage, which is dust, climate, humidity controlled and cleaned to a shining finish often.

This is where she'll sit -

Does anyone know if the Daytime Running Lamps can be programmed on or off through the buss at a Ford dealer? I simply added a relay to enable DRL's on my white one, but don't want to touch the electrical on this one if I can avoid it. I want to keep everything all 100% original.

Congrats on the yellow beauty!
Sure, after I finish feeding my 4 kids, their mother, the 2 stupid dogs and five cats. ROTFLMFAO.

Congrats on the car and beautiful stable!

With a title like that, I expect to see Brittany Spears in a red leather cat suit... No exceptions!

How are you liking the Michelein Super Sports?

Do you do Christmas Gift consulting for spouses? If so, I'll give you my wife's phone number.

Congrats on an excellent choice!

Looks great.

@Fracman

Don't laugh but - I only have like 100 miles on 'em. I only put a total of 500 miles on the car since I got her in March, since the plan was to preserve miles. I installed the wheels/tires and lowering kit all at once. The ride didn't seem to change much and the tires provided as comfortable a ride as the OE's - perhaps even a bit more, even after the lowering effect. I have never pushed this car the way I do my other cars...so I can't tell you about limitations on them. The car has never seen rain, so I can't tell you about wet driving either. Does that help? LOL

I'm a pussy with this car...I never drive east of where I live because there's a population there who gawk and lose control of the wheel...

I have hammered her hard a few times to see how fast she'll get there...but that's more straightline performance. I have done 1st-3rd burnouts to see how manageable she is on rear end slides etc...and was very surprised to see she's much more manageable than my SRT10, which just wants to (and has tried to) kill me every time I get in her. :(

She'll be less of a garage queen going forward as I now have the yellow one for that. That's all I can say, except that hands down, she's the most fun of all my rides, with the exception of the ZX14, only because that bike really can't be touched for all out straightline bang, but since the Viper came along, the ZX gets less seat time than she used to.

My fiancee always tells me that when she gets in the GT, she only wants to do bad things, like going out and robbing a 711...(that classifies as bad IMO). She's a commercial pilot who takes little pleasure in driving a car, but this one's seemingly gotten to her. LOL

@ Syco - NO! It seems I have to consult myself to buy my own gifts. Bummer - but at least I don't have to deal with returning unwanted presents! :)

Beautiful car, congratulations
