OEM Style Rear Bumper Delete Completed

Yes, if the modification does not effect the structural integrity of the car.
How are we going to get the removed bumpers back home, in my case Fresno?
What dates do you have in mind Bill?

Any chance to get a Mac relocation done at the same time, I never bought a kit?

Rest assured Bony that if need be the OEM bumper can be brought home to you in Fresno by the means of one of the guys that works for me.

As for dates; Rich and I chatted about it a few hours ago and with them going to the East Coast in a month we discussed the early part of March; as I recall 9th.

Certainly at this stage we can be flexible with the dates while attempting to meet everybody’s schedule. The key at this point will be to attempt to define what would like to be completed and by whom so that they can get the parts etc into the proverbial "Q".

They are prepared to stay longer than 3 days if the request work load dictates it. They will have use of the lift and all the tools needed to perform any task requested.

First off I would like to say thanks for all of the input in this post. As far as the look of this, it was intended to resemble the look of the original cars. Some people will like it and some won't. We went with the same screen pattern so it would still match the the rest of the car and still give it the OE look. As far as structure the only reason that I see that the bumper is there is for government crash regulations, and it would only help in a low mph impact crash from another GT because anything else would hit above the bumper anyway. The most important piece of structure is the two frame rails that attach to the castings, because they provide support for the clamshell hinges. As Shadowman had mentioned, our kit will include the new modified frame rails so the original ones can be kept for later if the customer wants to put the car back to stock. We know that this isn't for everyone, its just another option for these great cars.

I was worried when I started the removal process on my red GT about all of the above questions.
1. The bumper is 11lbs made of mostly of plastic and very little metal. If rear ended it will be of no help (IMO). If you are prone to doing the "back-up by braille method" it might help a little.
2. I am just a bit worried that if someone does ram me from behind, the insurance co. might scream a bit.....I decided that is a fight I'm willing to take. I just hate the bumper/ appendage that much!
3.I agree with some that the GTX is beautiful but misses the raw nasty look of the original where as the screan doesn't. Again IMO.
4. Cutting or destroying the original rails could be pricy if you ever want to go back to stock. Again like many others I am enjoying modding my GT but it's also very important to me to be able to go back to stock at a later date when all oem replacement parts may not be around.
5. The bumper it's self, less the frame rails, provides no support what so ever for the rear of the car.

If you mean; where can one purchase this OEM mesh panel so as to convert the gal to bumper less rear, you can not. This is being offered through The GT Guys.

There are flow dynamics that are required for the ass of these gals as such IMO one could not seal her ass off and not have significant issues.

Shadowman,
you got to be kiddin... This whole gal - talk is just too much, in combination with the rear discussion in particular:biggrin

here is the pic of the new one. Now on my car all in white at this angle the rear bumper is not as noticeable but from side angles no question it is there.

Just more food for thought.
