First, I have used the search button (but may have missed something, so bear with me). I am replacing the Optima battery in my 05 --not a big fan of Optima.

The Optima site and many folks here say the proper replacement is model 25--PC1400T. I happened to look in my 06 and saw an Odyessey model 1230 which because it seems slightly shorter might be a better fit.

It obviously works fine in my 06. But is anyone aware of a reason to use the 1400 over the 1230? Also , is there a better choice nowadays than the Odyessey? Thanks

I have two..........25PC1400. One for BLU and one for HERITAGE. They fit and seem to be the best.

I have the 1400. It is taller than the OEM battery and is a tight fit, but it does fit just fine. It sure is nice not having the car on a charger a week before I can use it!

The dimensions of the 1400 are listed as 9.46 H, 6.58 W, 8.69 L. The 1230 are listed as 9.46 H, 6.99 W, 7.92 L

The Width of the 1230 would concern me. It "might" not fit in the base bracket, but I haven't tried it to confirm.

An web search of the OEM optima sizes showed 9.4 H, 6.8 W 7.6 L and a red top type 25 9 5/16 (9.31)H, 6 13/16 (6.81)W, 7 5/8 (7.63) L. these are NOT dimensions from the vendor.

I have a 1400 with no problems.

FYI - The Diehard platinum series from Sears are built by Odyssey and are much less expensive - $180 ish. Fantastic battery IMO

I vote diehard

Jeff would you be so kind as to post the part number for the Sears die hard?

Yes, please

Sorry I don't have the part number guys... I have not used this battery in a GT yet. No listing for the Gt on the sears site either. I'm sure there is a compatible size- just need to get to the store and take some measurements.

I looked it up on both the Diehard site and at a Sears store and came up empty.

Pretty informative thread here- http://www.expeditionportal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=14285

Long read though.
