We have a few GTs entered in the Oct 5 Hooked On Driving Open Track & the Oct 20-21 NorCal Shelby Club Open Track at Thunderhill. Sign up if you are interested in participating or just attending. If you need help or advice just let me know.

Hooked On Driving has changed their passenger rules to only immedaite family members. I believe this is the only group that has taken this stance. The Shelby Club is 16 yrs or older for passengers & an approved helmet. I like taking passengers so this may be the last HOD event I do. We have lots of groups here in NorCal to chose from almost every weekend (5 tracks that are close to me). I hope to see you there! The weather is pefect!!!

Ed - any passengers "could" be cousins. Just a thought. Jeff

that is probably why the rule is "immediate" family members.

of course, in some parts your cousin IS immediate family. :rofl:rofl

Hi Ed, I met you at the Norcal SAAC event at Sears Point last week Saturday (Stock Tungsten GT). I was able to sign up for the HOD for Thunder Hill Oct 5th. I got stuck in the beginner group since the intermediate was already filled. Not sure if I'm ready for the advanced group just yet. Look forward to seeing you there.
Thanks,
John

Triheart 7 - Good to hear you can make it. That makes 6 GTs signed up for the open track - ywow! I like it.

T-hill Oct 5 Open Track

5 GTs showed up for the Hooked On Driving open track at Thunderhill. Cannibal, BlackIce, Gimbal, Mousecatcher & myself drove on a perfect fall day in Northern California. Piani came to watch & take photos. I wish he would've drove the GTX on the track! Check out the photo he took of Cannibal at turn 5. The guy in front of Cannibal isn't even close to being on the track surface!!!

BlackIce is seen driving his blue GT & the last photos are of me with the slicks for the first time. Hoosiers seem to warm up after a few turns but the slicks need a good lap. After that they stick well.

It was only 75 that day so I didn't get to compare the coolant temps on a fair basis. With the Accufab coolant hose supports I saw 210 as a high after 20 minutes on the track. I'll have to wait until next year to see what a 90 degree day will do for the coolant temps.

Ed

PS I watched Mousecatcher swap out his brake pads at the track in less than 30 mins with a few pieces of wood, a small floor jack & a socket/ratchet for the lug nuts. He drove his GT onto the wood to get the jack under the car, pulled the wheel off & swapped out the pads. Only a punch or similar tool is needed to press the brake pad pins out. No need to remove the caliper as the Brembos are set up for quick pad changes. Very cool.

Very nice pictures. Thanks for info on the Accufab coolant hose supports as well. It has me wondering if that is the fix my car needs. Do you know if any of the other GT's(the ones without the supports) where running higher temps?

What kind of lap times where the GT's making?

Ed - Clinton,
What is the ride height on each of your FGT's?

I am only about 3/4" lower than stock. Any lower and I would have to use boards to get the car on the lift. Ed's is a lower than my GT, by at least another 1/2" and his tires are a smaller diameter which makes it even lower. I think Ed posted actual measurements on another thread.

Yup, it was a great day! I blew out a cat the day before but it was functional enough that I didn't have problems. Big thanks to Ed for "lending" me a set of brake pads ... I went through an entire set the day before and would have been out of luck if not for Ed. BTW, Ed, I'm done with them now, you can have them back. :rofl

Hope to see more GTs next time! It was a blast!
