Now that's how it's SUPPOSED to sound!

Ed, I blame you for making me want a new exhaust set up. Now I regret I didn't man up on exhaust...

I am but a country boy living amongst the cows. I'm not so sure your hoity-toity Irvine/OC neighbors would appreciate the sound interrupting their tea and crumpets. :biggrin

Plus, Irvine PD is the worst. I'm sure they'd bust you for sound and emissions in a heartbeat.

First outing with my new HERO3+. Wide screen format is pretty cool. Sound is a bit better (I think), but still need an external mic.

Ed
I know you must be itching to get on a track for some real cool video. Sounds great also.

Very nice Ed!
Best,

Headers > X-pipe

Sounds great

Nice Ed. Did you ever comment on how you like pulley /tune btw? I seem to remember you were gonna get that done.

Rear bumper mount

Test of my external mic/rear bumper mounted setup. All driving was done within the speed limit.....Good news is I didn't make the mic explode. Bad news is no flames:( Any tips to make the car a fire breather?

Ed,
I don't get it!
You want your car really loud.
You say that you want to take off the bumper.
But, no Whipple or TT in your future?
Me thinks that you are sandbagging all of us.
My Best,

Yeah. Here you go. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Exhaust-fla...rner-kit-/220909939926?_trksid=p2054897.l4275

Or, you could TT it and make sure it runs rich when you close the throttle and everything is nice and hot.

dmv.ca.gov? wtf is that on the plate for? Is that who we are supposed to report you to?

Need an aftermarket tune, you already have the exhaust you need for good flames. My car shot out flames about 3' long during mile runs that were completely visible on a sunny afternoon day. I'm not sure this is a good thing.

I love your license plate.

The WRONG way to take video

Vid on how it's NOT supposed to sound. Tried to mount the cam on the driver's side window WITHOUT relocating the external mic. Stupid, stupid, stupid. Nothing but wind noise above 20-30 mph. Won't do that again. Will have to figure out a good way to route the mic cable to the rear bumper and redo.

Snippet from some quadcopter drone footage.

Footage I took with the mic ghetto-taped to the rear bumper, camera on driver's side glass, cable originally taped to clamshell but quickly flapping freely in the wind (which is why I keep looking into my side view mirror to make sure it's still there).

Now I just need a semi-permanent way of securing the cable/mic near the exhaust and allowing me to mount the camera anywhere else on the car.

Now all you need are pulley and tune, and some decent landscape. :)

I didn't get to listen on good speakers, but I'm wondering if the mic may actually be too close to the pipes, causing some distortion and frequency loss. IDK...have to listen again with good speakers.

Thanks for all your experimentation. I'm waiting for you to go final so I can buy a complete kit from you. ;)

Quite possible, Gary. Problem is that the only good place to mount the mic is somewhere on the rear fascia/bumper. Anything front-facing will get overwhelmed by the wind. I guess I could place the mic on the far edge of the bumper as opposed to directly over the exhausts pipes, but given how loud it is, I'm not sure that will make much of a difference.

There are some really dramatic stills you can capture from the second vid. Clouds are fantastic.

Gary, did you get a chance to listen to it on better speakers? Whaddya think? Still too much distortion?
